Thanks to Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com) for the tip (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=8229).

Commodore Gaming, the new mobile, PC and video game joint venture between Commodore International Corporation and The Content Factory B.V. has announced that it will enter the mobile game market with a line of mobile game-vending MediaTowers in European retail stores.

..........

Bala Keilman, CEO of Commodore Gaming, commented of the announcement: "We believe that the revolution in handheld media devices, which includes the new generation of mobile phones will demand a variety of simple, user-friendly ways for consumers to download content."

He continued: "Mobile phones have inherent difficulties in the way content can be searched and discovered by users, and we believe that offering this content in retail stores on a 17” touch screen will help educate and encourage consumers to try mobile games as well as other types of content."

Oh, and the Speccy still rules over the Commodore 64!

Pfft! The C64 may have all the bells and whistles, but the Speccy reigned supreme in what counts - gameplay (and rubber keys)!

I am sorry my Scottish friend, you're incorrect! :D
The C=64 was and still in retrospect is the shit. I'll have to take a photo of my still working C=64 setup. I wish I had a Fast Load cartridge back in the heyday of the C=64, but I am just glad I have one now. :)

Anyone remember those awesome Epyx joysticks? (http://www.cedmagic.com/tech-info/remote-control/epyx-500xj-joystick-small.jpg)

"The Content Factory?" What a promising name for a company--with a name like that, I expect their next product to be Awesomez0r Killdeath: Your Head Asplode.

And don't forget the movie tie-in!

haha I still have some of the old game tapes (!! those things took forever to load) lying around.
good times with ghostbusters II and blue max :D

oh and I had this programming for c64 book that had a line along "perhaps some day graphical adventures will take over the place of text adventures, but that is highly unlikely"

yea. but cool text adventures on a mobile? I´m in!

Pfaf. The C=64 pissed on the spectrum from a great height.

Though my heart lies with the Amiga and Turrican II.

I agree with the Amiga, best computer I ever owned and had more power than any PC of the day 100x over. Especially the 4000 I had, damn, I miss that thing.

I still fucking love the C64!

Mission Impossible, The Great Gianna Sisters, Raid on Bungeling Bay, Bruce Lee, Archon
Montezuma's Revenge, Space Taxi, Legacy of the Ancient, Portal, etc..

These are ALL games I would pay to play on my cell phone!

Raid Over Moscow, Beachhead, endless RPGs (D&D Gold Box, the first few Might & Magics, Temple of Apshai series, Ultimas, etc), the Epyx Games series, and of course, Stuart Smith's Adventure Construction Kit. I'm not 100%, but I believe the c64 was also home to the only version of Donkey Kong with the pie level. That thing was awesome to program as well. Great sprite support, lots of ram, the SID chip. Ah, good times. Makes me want to plug it back in (I still have a shoebox full of disks, although last time I checked a few years ago, half of them didn't work anymore). Wait, what was this thread about? :P

Ultima III of course but did someone just say Legacy of the Ancients? I loved that game even the graph paper part although I was sad once when I gambled my armor away. BTW, what about Infocom and M.U.L.E. aside from Archon of course which has been mentioned (and would make a great tattoo). So many memories mentioned in this thread, Blue Max was great fun and I remember Raid over Moscow would stay in your comps memory so I would load my disk on a friends 1571 and he would leave his comp on to play it when I left. Crystal Castles was the longest loading game ever and that was when Origin was my favorite company and EA was very cool. I wont talk about disk nibbler and ultrabyte fast hack em though. Best Console Ever. Is Live Arcade going to take us there again?
