View Full Version : Weekend Gamer - What are you playing?

Ah, the weekend is here! Mine is starting early this Friday, and with a three day weekend in the states - this sets up plenty of gaming time. What to play, what to play? Oh course there is WoW and CoH, but I am getting back in the mood for some single player games. Which means I will probably load up Silent Storm and see how that is. What are you playing this weekend?

WoW for me. I also am feeling the need for some more Battlefield 2 action. I haven't played that game in about 4 months now so I think its time to give it another try. Perhaps even some UT2k4 Onslaught.

Just about through Ocarina of Time and Zelda 2. I finished A Link to the Past yesterday, and I'm starting Link's Awakening.
My brother just got a 360 and he borrowed a huge HDTV from a friend. So I'll be going over there this weekend to feel jealous.

Mainly Empires at War, but I'm sure I'll get in some UT2k4 and X3.

Empire at War, FEAR maybe some CIV4. Probably not WoW. I've kicked that habit.

Chibi Robo and Fire Emblem on the GC. Its a big N weekend for me.

Hopefully I'll be putting together my new rig this weekend. There's a possibility about half the stuff I ordered from New Egg won't come in 'till Monday though, which will be a bummer, but I guess that'd be my own fault for being cheap and going UPS instead of FedEx. Ah well, I waited this long... another weekend won't kill me, I suppose.
So... if I don't get it all, I'll probably put the lion's share of time into WoW or CoH, with a decent helping of Pacific Fighters and Battlefront II.
F.E.A.R. (feeling very office-y this weekend), and Thief: DS -- if it arrives on time.
And Pac Man, always Pac Man.

Finishing Condemned. Might play some BF2 after last night I forgot what a fun game that can be.
Otherwise....no idea.

Geometry Wars Evolved and lots of streaming rock music. Perhaps some fruit, elixir and glass eye hunting in Kameo and a dash of LotR:BfME2 demo for good measure.

Well, I FINALLY got WoW when Best Buy had its $30 sale a week or so ago, so obviously I'm completely addicted to that right now. I might get in some Guild Wars around it, but I doubt it.
Also want to finish up Psychonauts at some point, and need to reinstall Morrowind because somebody started another Morrowind mod thread over at Penny Arcade. *Sigh*
If I turn on my Cube this weekend it'll be for Battalion Wars, but I think I'll be too busy, honestly.
Oh, and heading with the wife to another couple's house tomorrow night to play Plunder (http://www.laughingpan.com/plunder/index.htm). If you're into board/card games I HIGHLY recommend that. Great piratey fun. :D

Grandia III, Star Wars Empires at War, and some more D&D beta, since I can't seem to get enough of that.
The last time I touched D&D online was about 2 months ago (maybe a bit less than that). I wasn't impressed. Has the game changed that much while it's been in beta? It was stil in closed beta when I played.
For me it'll be Empire at War and WoW, getting my paladin to level 20 (up from level 17). Nothing too ambitious. And because Monday is a holiday, I'll throw some PD:0 and Kameo in there as well. I might go back and give Battle for Middle Earth a second look. I spent some time with the B4ME2 demo last night and it was fairly decent, IMO.

World of Warcraft - leading the new guild on a run through Gnomeregan and beyond. Nothing like a set of new players on a new server to get things going again. I like the D&D beta, though I'm not going to bother playing it much further, since, well, my characters will be deleted. I just wanted to see if it was at least worth picking up. I haven't decided if it's going to have the 'WoW factor', so to speak.
Might grab Empire at War, though I think I'm terminally burned out on the Star Wars universe, unfortunately.
Jonesing for some tabletop action of some kind, though I doubt that's going to happen.

More WoW.
Always more WoW.
Until GRAW and Oblivion hit and I'm forced to break down and hunt up a 360.

Maaaaybe a little COV. But mostly Monster Hunter 2. MH1 was great (to me) Especially online. Hard as all hell, yeah. But fun in a weird niche way, even if there was a lot of collecting.
MH2 seems to fix 90% of the stuff I didn't like about MH1, though I'm not far into it, and I'm playing an import version, so that other 10% might be covered when its in enligsh and I can understand most of it. Fun game. Strangely large weapons still.
Might have to try putting up a review of it on EV sometime.

A bit of PGR3 and PD0. The calm before the storm, every weekend after this one will be consumed by 360 new releases. FNR3, GRAW and then Oblivion. Hell yes.

Ugh I have so many games to play I don't know where to start.
Darwinia
Civ4
NFS:MW
LoTOR:BFME (got it on discount finally)
Psychonauts
Crimson Skies
Ninja Gaiden Black
Fable Lost Chapters
DOA4 (jus want to get better at it)
Kameo (achievements only)
I'll probably review that list and start finishing up some games. Darwinia has just 2 levels on it to complete so I'll probably start there this afternoon and finish the game. After that I'll probably play Ninja Gaiden Black the majority of the rest of the time. That game is just damn good. I have no hopes of finishing that game this weekend but if I do I'll have to find another game on the list close to completing and knock it out.

Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach, which seems ok so far, but I don't know if I'll go month-to-month with it. Still working through Guitar Hero with my buddies. I suck, but I've got 5 stars on everything in Easy, and most of Medium. I've gotten through a lot of songs on Hard, but no 5-Star rankings there yet. Like I said, I suck.

I have a mix of Grandia 3, Wild Arms 4, and Empire at War to play. I haven't had a chance to play Empire yet, as I wasn't feeling all that good last night, so I'm looking forward to it today. As for Grandia 3 and Wild Arms 4, so far the Grandia battle system is better but I'm enjoying the story in Wild Arms 4 more. That pretty much makes them equal in my book.

Morrowind, trying to really focus in and get through it, the new textures should be fun.
Making my way through Icewind Dale which has been great fun so far.
Might purchase Mount and Blade which was surprisingly kick ass fun.
And if after all that there's time left I'll put a few hours into Jade Empire.

I'm finally getting a chance to play Quake 4 (PC) and loving every moment.. minus the vehicle bits. Overall it is the most graphically stunning game I have played so far. Each of the environments featured in the game has a unique look to it. Maybe Raven didn't reinvent the FPS with Q4, but they certainly mastered the run-and-gun FPS here.

WoW and some BF2. I likey the new patch a lot. I always liked playing support but hated not being able to shoot anyone with accuracy outside of 10 feet.
Mainly WoW, though, I've been playing it for almost 2 months now and it's still as awesome as when I first started. Good, good stuff.

Empire at War, a little Soul Calibur III, and I might even try to find that elusive creature, the 360.
ETA: Just got my BFME2 beta access from pre-order. I played the first with everything turned up, but based on the demo I might have to wait until I get a 7800 for all the bells and whistles.

Sacred is a great addicting game. I am trying to play Dragonshard with all the sound issues.
My new 6800GS card should arrive today so I'll be upgrading from a 9800 Pro and finally playing BF2 the way it should look, woot.
Although it's looking like my wife might "make" me play a single-player game that she can watch, maybe Pikmin 2 or Metroid 2 or even some Guitar Hero. I have a rough life, I know :)

Its funny you mention WoW, because I can't get back into that. Not sure what D&D was like before, but it reminds me of a faster paced NWN. I really prefer the realtime combat, and it doesn't hurt that I've partied with some decent people. Its really a small group of friends type game, kinda like the tabletop.

Ah, the original Icewind Dale? I never played that one a lot, though I devoted a lot of time to IWD2. All of the Infinity engine games were just so engaging. I hope NWN2 recaptures some of that, though I did play the heck out of NWN and the expansion packs.

What kills me about Sacred was the apparent inability to change the screen resolutions (things just don't look good on my 20" LCD without being in 1600 x 1200). Is there a way around that, has it since been fixed, or did I just miss something?

I'm trying to finish up Resident Evil 4 on the "Pro" level. Taking Krauser down is my next obstacle and I have a feeling it's going to be hard. I'll also be putting some time in Guild Wars and possibly giving EVE Online a go. I may hold off until next week, after RE4 is out of my system.

I'm on hiatus with that for now. And my daily 15 minutes of Animal Crossing, which has been almost an everyday thing since I got the gamecube version a few years back.

Quake 4 for X360. It's a lot of fun, only troubles are occasional framerate issues and waaay too many loading screens. The controls feel top-notch.

Fan-freaking-tastic. It gets better the deeper you go into learning the unit behaviors and actual tactics.
The realistic battle physics are really nice, mostly in reference to the space battles. Things that should logically happen do in fact happen. Such as observing fighter squadrons being shredded as they fly directly at a tartan cruiser, but being hit less when flanking or flying away. Not that they should be flanking an anti-fighter cruiser, but you get the idea. Pack enough ships out there and things get nasty. "Return of the Jedi final space battle" nasty.

Well, I'll be playing WoW on my 41 druid, as well as some Civ IV. It's my 21st birthday today, so I'll also be doing a fair amount of drinking. Got some DVD's for my birthday (in addition to the $630 used to buy all my new computer parts): Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and Seaquest DSV Season 1. I'll probably get some more money tomarrow, and head to a Gamestop and might pick up something hard-core for my new PC to play when it gets here. Gonna save $60 no matter what though, so I can buy Oblivion when it comes out.

I have started playing Getting Up. It's better than most of us give it credit for. The combat is ok, the tagging is fun, if repetitive to get 100%. The city has a nice design, and the cut-scenes are quite nice. The exploration segments are kinda sloppy, but that may be due to the fact the last game that was about exploring that I played was Prince of Persia 3. I was really hoping Getting Up would be Prince of Persia with Spray-paint.

If I can manage to get away from changing diapers on the 2-wk old new baby, then I *might* get a few rounds of CoH in this weekend.
Might.
Good luck on that. Enjoy these times when they're small and will at least sleep for a large portion of the day. My little hellion, er, angel only naps for an hour or two during the day, thus limiting my gaming time significantly. You need to get your diaper changing skill as high as you can. Master that and you'll be sailing.
As for gaming, I'm off work for the next 11 days (hallefreakinlujah) and am staying at the in-laws for the next 3 1/2 days. I was going to play Chibi-Robo all weekend, but decided to work on finishing up DQ8 and then I'll start up Grandia 3 if I do finish DQ8.
I also have the DS here, so I'll be playing Mario & Luigi: PiT, AC:WW, Meteos, Mario Kart DS and a couple other games as the weekend (and my boredom) progresses.
Aside from that, just playing the "Visit-Every-Comic-Shop-Around-Until-I-Find-Marvel-Zombies-#3" game and maybe having a nap. Good times.

Quake 2 on the 360 and I will probably pick up Madden06 as the demo is pretty fun. The NFS demo is pretty cool too, but with FNR3, Burnout3 and Oblivion coming out in the next few weeks, I might not have enough time to take on NFS:MW too. God, I love the demo downloading ability of LIVE; saved my 60 bucks that would have gone to Full Auto and redirects it towards Madden.

Think I might head out after work and get a new PC game.... Maybe CivIV, Empire at War, or AoE3. Otherwise it's Psychonauts and Destroy All Humans.

I loved Destroy All Humans... The 360 really needs to be able to play that game... soon <.< I beat it twice already, but I still think it's three kinds of awesome.

BF2 has apprehended all my gaming recreation time. And rightly so, it is by far the most cutting edge multi-player virtual warfare. If any here know of one better…I wanna hear from ya!
I hear all this praise for BF2, yet I still hold no interest. I think it's a EA related decision at a subconcious level. Which is good, otherwise I wouldn't have the willpower.
Ico, maybe some Disgaea and Mount & Blade.

Heh, same here. With some Getting Up as well. And maybe catch up on the DS backlog.

Well, I'll be playing WoW on my 41 druid, as well as some Civ IV. It's my 21st birthday today
I missed this earlier, but happy belated birthday!
