A Steam Forum poster by the name of Fade Guy (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11725508#post11725508) did some searching through a few of the files in the early release demo of L4D2 on the 360 and found what looks to be Avatar awards.

I really want these avatar awards to become more common, and I think L4D2 would be a great place to start, but none of these rewards really excite me.

Still, hopefully more and more games start having these.

Agreed. I would have loved to be able to spend my gamer points for something cool. But, then again, I barely see it. Oh well. Way to go Valve!

That's cool. Avatar items that are the resoult of in-game achievements are a great idea.

Shame that getting the PC version won't help me unlock these for my 360...

The guy who thought up "Gnome Chompski" dislocated his shoulder from patting himself on the back so much. ;)

Am I missing something? What the fuck is an avatar award? I'm assuming this is some console shit, right? On PC, we just upload any image as our avatar for Steam.

These are awards for the avatars on a strange, nearly unheard-of thing called a "Ex-Box Three-Six-Tee". Not quite sure what it is, but it must be popular enough to merit something like this.

So it sounds like under normal circumstances, you people actually PAY for avatars on your 360? Microsoft really has no shame do they? So on this rare occasion when you can unlock generic avatars for free, who no doubt thousands of other users will be wearing, this is cause for celebration?

Paying for JPEGs. Wow. Mind blown.

People pay for all kinds of stupid stuff. I would pay for a digital hammer, if I could use it to bludgeon my avatar to death and be rid of it.

An Xbox 360 avatar isn't a static .JPG: it's a fully-animated and rendered character model that you can play dress up with with by slapping clothing items and accessories onto it much like a Nintendo Mii, which you've probably never heard of either.

You don't have to pay for a 360 avatar (One free in every box!) and there are lots of ways to make it look different than all the other ones without having to pay a cent.

You've somehow managed to just skip over the past few years of gaming, haven't you? Ever heard of a Mii? Same thing, but with less charm and you have to look at it more.

I think every game should include Depeche Mode t-shirts.
