TalkXbox (http://www.talkxbox.com/article1695.html) has the scoop on an agreement between Microsoft and Points.com (http://www.points.com) to bring your MS Points off of Live and buy other real tangible goods.
Points Internation has announced an agreement with Microsoft for Microsoft Points to join the Points.com portal. MS Points is the system that allows consumers to store value into their account to redeem digital goods. Now, gamers can access a wide range of redemption opportunities in area such as travel and brand name retail goods.
Interesting. Has anyone ever used this Points.com? I mean...what's the point? *ba-dum-ching*

I'm thinking we'll start to see tournaments, promotions, etc. that give out marketplace points. Otherwise why do this?

Ya, unless points are given out to us in some fashion that doesn't involve us paying, I don't see an advantage here...

Wasn't there talk of gambling for points?
I also wouldn't be surprised if there weren't tournaments/promotions where the prize money was doled out as points.

How many points does it take to add a solid multiplayer component to CoD2? I'm sure we would all gladly contribute :-)
I can't seem to get to the linked article, oh well.

How many points to stop the rampant ruining of the Mulitplayer games like COD2 and Full Auto by having MS build the clan support and such into their console where it belongs???

What's the ratio of dollars to points? I know it's not 100:1 (as in, 100 points = $1). It'd never be such a simple ratio, because then you'd see a game for 400 points and think, "$4? I dunno ..." But with some weird conversion ratio, people are more willing to part with their points. Oh MS, you devious bastards ...

The ratio for points to dollars is easy. 80 points per dollar. Not that hard to figure out. 400 point downloads are $5.

Unless there is a way to win those points instead of just buying them, it's pretty pointless as I could just buy whatever I want instead of just going through another step.

I thought a cool option would be to bet points on the outcome of games, so you could lay a certain amount of points down to say that your team will win in a certain PDZ Dark Ops game, or that you'll come at least 3rd in a race.
There would have to be some serious anti-cheating prevention though, 'cause you know it'd all end up in tears no matter what happened.

Anyways, there would be no way for gambling points to work, but I could definitely see getting points as prizes for officially sponsored events.
