How awesome would this be if it ended up more powerful than the Revolution?

TOTALLY!
Ha, not sure where I'm going with this. If PSP was more powerful than DS.. and PSP2 has no competition... it would probably rival the revolution :P

Well, I suppose if UMDs are going to kick the bucket, Sony needs a new platform for a new type of media...

Okay man, maybe you should actually go to the store and look at the game rack. There are at least eight awesome must-own games on the console.

I'll make you a deal, I will go look at the (non) game rack for the PSP if you stop smoking crack and bashing your skull against a concrete wall.

Is it me, or is the PSP turning out to be the biggest joke since the N-Gage.
Sure, I bet there are some awesome, must-have games for the N-Gage too!

There's a pretty sweet one where you hold a taco up to your ear and pretend that it's a phone.

Not only will they need to revamp the UMD format for the PSP2, they also need an excuse to force customers to their new Micro memory card. Ugh...
If not for my neverending addiction to Lumines, I'd have sold my PSP months ago.

Cool AN, the PSP was supposed to kill the Game Boy, to drive it into the ground. On paper it has superior technology to both the DS and the GBA. In practice it has not lived up to it because of the lack of support for it. In terms of what the Playstation did to the N64 compared to the PSP to the DS/GBA, the PSP is failing miserably.

You must be right. The PSP is even a BIGGER Joke than the N-Gage. I'm sure I insulted all the N-Gage users with my little quip.

I just sold my PSP. On the system, games and accessories I ate a $250 loss...but I'm glad I did it.
I bought the system because I was expecting Sony to hit a home run like they did with the PSX and PS2. But...the screen has enough motion blur to ruin movies and games, the analog nub kills my thumb after 30 minutes, and the battery dies in a couple weeks even when the system is completely off. Lame. For portable entertainment I'll stick with my DS...or god forbid read a book.

See, and I bought a PSP and ive been quite pissed about it, but your reasons have nothing to do with it.
The screen is frickin brilliant, looks pretty much amazing to be honest. Movies look rather awesome, anbd compared to a GBA, well frankly its not fair to compare them.
Also, unlike past posts... hate to say it, but the PSP is WAY more powerful then the DS. Thats just reality. The DS is way more successful, im not arguing that, but from a tech persective, the PSP is almost a whole different generation.
In regards to battery life, I have to say im pretty much ok with it. I get about 4 hours average, and can leave it unplugged for weeks and its still doing pretty good. A small bit of drain I can deal with. Your right though, the nub is a bitch on your thumb! :) And, they should have had dual nubs!
Now here is my single and only beef with the PSP. THE SOFTWARE FUCKING SUCKS. There has been shit since it was lost, and the quality of whats been released is pretty depressing. If they released even half the software I expected I would be happy. Hell, if Gran Tourismo was released I would have been happy!
In the end though, I dont somuch mind my cast wasting on the PSP, after spending 100$ on a 1 gig mem stick. Im currently playing Shadowrun for the SNES, and thats whats awesome. As an emulator, its pretty damned sweet.

i just sold my PSP, and broke even on the whole deal. but i got a sick deal when i picked it up, so. anyway, i couldn't find games that i wanted to pay for on the system. most of the titles i was interested in i already own (darkstalkers, price of persia, midway arcade treasures, SF alpha 3) or can pick up for next to nothing on home systems (THUG2). the multimedia functions are nice, but i already own a flash based MP3 player, and various video players (ngage, QD, palm and windows based PDAs).
my take on the whole PSP vs DS thing... the PSP has the best internal hardware, but it's held back by it's input interface (nub=shit, and there's only 1; lacking extra shoulder buttons that make some ports troublesome) and the general frailty and form factor of the system (screen prone to scratching, not convienient to put in your pocket). the DS has a good interface (when used properly) that's held back by it's internal hardware, and it's also a bit large to stick in your pocket. but, if you feel the need to do so, you don't need to have it in a case.

hehe, so they realize their piece of shiny turd just can't cut it against the beautifull DS, and its steadily increasing library of great games...

Just to clarify, the article its based on is a misunderstanding, apparently.
The NAND flash is for Sony's current stuff (the order --which actually may not actually happen now-- was for around 1/5th of Samsungs production capacity... lots). Mostly their Mp3 players, which require a ton more flash than a PSP or PSP2 would (this is partly why the deal may fall through -- the price Sony wants might not be low enough, so they might go with HDDs).
It isn't for PSP2. That wouldn't even make sense... if it was for a console at all it'd be for PS3 (which will likely require 64-128mb of NAND flash for its OS, as opposed to 32mb for PSPs).
And Kamalot, continuously repeating that stigmatic rhetoric doesn't make it true, no matter how many times you do it.
