There is a new Project Offset and Red 5 interview (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=3520) up on Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com/). The interview discusses how the two companies met and very generally what their plans are for future development. For those who missed the story (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9697&highlight=project+offset), the Project Offset engine has been licensed to Red 5 Studios. Red 5 is made up of former Blizzard developers who worked on World of Warcraft, and are currently making their own MMO based on original IP. Here's your snippet:
Mark Kern - I met Sam after I saw some of the incredible demo movies showing off Offset technology and game concepts. I contacted him and chatted briefly about what Offset was doing and what they wanted to do. We didn't talk about licensing technology until much later. But as we started to review the engines that were available from other sources, we realized that the Offset engine was going to be able to handle some things better from an MMO perspective. It was then that we really started to talk seriously about working together.
Couldn't be happier to see the Offset guys doing well. In a time when people say the garage game development era has ended, these guys are proving them wrong.
