Not that it really matters because SO many people have canceled their pre-orders and won't be playing Modern Warfare 2, but Activision has released the minimum PC specs you'll need.

Update: I've been informed that the stats Incgamers posted are incorrect... Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5388139/here-are-your-modern-warfare-2-minimum-specs-for-pc) has the real information:

System Requirements

OS: Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Windows 95/98/ME/2000 are unsupported)
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 3.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor or better supported
Memory: 1 GB RAM
Graphics: 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT or better or ATI Radeon 1600XT or better
DirectX: Microsoft DirectX(R) 9.0c
Hard Drive: 12GB of free hard drive space
Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
Internet: Broadband connection required for Multiplayer Connectivity. Internet Connection required for activation

MW2 Steam page (http://store.steampowered.com/app/10180/)

Co-op/Multiplayer Hosting: To host Co-op or MP matches, a 2Ghz dual-core or better processor is recommended.

Whoopsie, Activision. You just shat in the secret sauce and ruined the mix. :(

Jeez there Modeps! A touch cynical are we? Will MW2 having peer-to-peer PC multiplayer stop the world from spinning and result in zero sales? no. But I, and two of my friends have canceled our pre-orders, we're more than happy to play L4D2 while we wait for IW to include dedicated servers (if they ever do.)

I think that IW will feel this decision in their pockets. It will amount to some money lost, just how much is the question. The more they lose on this whole "IWNet" thing, the more likely PC gamers will keep getting their dedicated servers.

16 Gig Install minimum?

WTF.

Are they trying to discourage PC sales here?

I've got 826 GB free on my gaming partition :-)

Too bad I won't be filling it with MW2 :-(

I don't mind game developers improving on a product. Aside from the BS with the lack of dedicated servers it looks like MW2's going to be much better than MW. However, the way IW and Activision have mislead people about PC multiplayer makes it a no buy for me.

If they sold a single player only version for 10 bucks, I'd buy it.

The PC specs should just read "Xbox360 or PS3".

<- preorder = canceled.

I still can run it with ease. But still won't.

Lost sales... I willing to give L4D2 a look much sooner, now.

OOPS!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like Steam sales haven't even cracked the "TOP10" yet. I think It eventually will, but still it will see MUCH LESS sales than before. I think at least 50% less sales on steam, since this group should REALLY care about the multiplayer component.

Not that anyone gives a shit, but I won't be purchasing or playing this either. They've got to know that this kind of take on a PC game just won't do.

As I have said before, I am also out on this one. I never even played the Single Player on the first one so I was in it completely for the Multiplayer.

Torrenting is looked down upon here, as it should be everywhere. Please do not post your thieving ways here, it taints us.

What's wrong with torrenting ? It's a good way to share large files.

Context is king. He wasn't talking about "sharing a large file." He was talking about stealing/infringing copyright.

That was quite clear to all, and that's not something EvAv advocates.

WHAT DID YOU DO WHEN THEY CAME FOR THE DEDICATED SERVERS?

I'm really surprised that the minimum requirements are so low. I guess it is the exact same engine as Call of Duty 4.

Honestly more and more games are GPU intense than CPU.
The fact they claim a 6600GT is a minimum with a 3+ Ghz CPU is retarded...

I have a 2.6 i7 1366, with 3 275GTX 1.7Gb in Tri-SLI.
CPU never breaks over 50% even while running 4 games and other apps.
(DoW2, Oblivion, WoW, and DoW:SS) & (WMP, IE, Zune, and with AVG Scanning)

So what do you think does most of the work?
THE GPU!!!!

Looks like many of you missed the point of the PA strip. It's making fun of the drastic reaction of the PC community. It's saying, "Yeah, this sucks, but it's not the apocalypse." It definitely is not siding with the complainers.

We are at the point now where system requirements have leveled off. This happens at this point of every console life cycle. Expect a big jump in system requirements when the next wave of consoles hits.

Remember that they are saying PENTIUM 4 3.0 Ghz or HIGHER. Higher meaning newer processors and/or speed. Your 920 definitely constitutes higher. It also depends on the game. Games like Supreme Commander usually need a beefy CPU to play it at max settings with tons of stuff happening.

I disagree with your interpretation. As usual, I think they're making fun of everyone involved, which is about the right response, in my mind.

I'll just point out that "not siding with the complainers" and "making fun of everyone involved" are not mutually exclusive.
