The reviews are starting to come in for Full Auto on the XBox 360. Bad news folks, it's mediocre at best.

1UP (http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3148023&did=1) - 8.0
IGN (http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/688/688554p1.html) - 7.1
Pro-G (http://www.pro-g.co.uk/review/880/) - 7.0
EuroGamer (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=62843) - 6.0

Very dissapointing. Though it appears the European based sites are giving it lower scores than the ones stateside.

EDGE also gave it a 6, though that probably means 7 or 8 in the context of other magazines.

The demo *sucked*... very unfinished-feeling...

Yeah, I wanted to like it, but it just didn't "feel" right. Too arcade-like for me.

I'll pass.

Thinking about it more, I have absolutely nothing else to play right now except ea garbagyie, so I might rent this one. Has anyone actually bought it or rented it yet?

Did anyone expect this to be good? It has looked weak from day one. Even the basic idea is lame. Carz wit gunz!!
Please. Driving fast and blowing stuff up is so last year. Have you seen that new driving game from Japan? You drive under the speed limit and follow all the traffic laws. That is the new shit! Cutting-edge hardcore shite!

Im not a huge EA fan myself, but the wife picked me up NFS:MW for Christmas, and to be honest the game is an absolute blast. If Full Auto is truly teh suck, you should check out NFS, its a very good agression killing title.

i.e. they're not bribing the european reviewers as much as the state ones.

I knew long ago the reviews would be like this, actually I thought they would be worse. All I care about is if it's fun on Live for a week or so.

Wow, haters in the morning without their coffee.

If I wanted to keep playing the same game I've been playing for 4 years on Xbox, then I can always play PGR3 or NFSWhatever. This game has a fresh combination of stuff, new mechanics to learn with the rewind thing. What are you willing to give up for originality?

1UP sez:
At first glance, it may appear to be a considerably slower Burnout clone, but upon further inspection, the game is an entirely different beast, breathing new life to a genre that is growing ever stagnant. Despite a few glitches and the occasional framerate problems, Full Auto is simply a blast to play (pun intended).

Seriously, give NFS:MW a try. If you think Rewind is a substantial difference, get into a 50 car police chase and break out the persuit breakers. Or discover that you can actually break through the prison, or try the drag racing ( which I personally despise ).

Just because its an EA title, dont assume it has no origonality. Its not just the graphics that make me like this game. As to PGR3, im torn. I live the game, but the lack of low end cars or a feeling of progression really ruined it for me. In some was PGR3 is actually worse then PGR2. Im looking forward to Forza.

So, one 6 out of 10 review, mixed in with 8's and 7's, makes it mediocre?

Wuh?

So the game where you strap guns to your car and can rewind time felt too arcade-like? What did you expect it to play like?

NFS:MW is great.

As for Full Auto... not suprising. We need a new Twisted Metal damnit!

I tried the demo and felt the control sucked. It was difficult to use some of the weapons and the cars did not feel like they had any substance. The amount you can destroy was neat but it had lots of slowdown, which is unacceptable for a delayed game.

If you hit up GameRankings.com the average score is like a 7.2 or so. In my mind that's mediocre. Hell even the average score of the ones I posted are only 7.

LOL! Nicely done, Ludoc.

Nah man, I meant I wish the game controlled more like NFS:MW. I hate the loose control in Full Auto, the cars move around too unrealistically. If I nearly averted a crash in the Full Auto demo, I felt it was more luck than actual driving prowess.

And this is coming from a guy that plays a LOT of driving games. Like I said originally, it just didn't "feel" right to me.

That, and it wasn't fun. :)

Yeah, cause magazines won't give anything less than a 6 to your typical game, if only because of potential future ad revenue. People need to realize that most gaming journalism is heavily subsidized by the gaming industry(like many other consumer products, I suppose), and as such, you have to take anything they say with a big grain of salt.

If a game scores less than an 8, it usually has at least one big problem.

yep, i found that out last week. it turned out to be a great time killing game, a little frustrating when I get stuck on top of a cop car and get busted, but still fun.

Serapth,

You have to take your foot of the gas man hahaha. After seeing TOTALED a few times I said...self, take your damn foot off the gas and see what happens - we'll how about that! I can actually control this tricked out ride in this event :-)

I actually built up my skill level enough to start using my nitro to really leave those suckers behind.

Great game for racing fun and the police chases are a gem.

What is NFS:MW? I try to scan that and all I get is Network File System: something something.

Less acronyms please!

The European reviews are lower because apparently the game has major framerate issues at 50 Hz (HDTV standard in Europe), and so they have to make an adjustment to the Hz or else apparently the game will be a slideshow...

That said, I have read some awful things about the online interface that might be deal breakers for my friends and I.

gojira, need for speed: most wanted.

To everyone else...i really liked the demo. Sure it's not the end all, be all to gameplay, but i thought it was fun. I liked driving around, shooting people in the face, and dropping nades while doing crazy stunts. That's the whole point to me. It's not a sit down, engrossing driving experience, it's like crazy taxi. It's fun. I'll rent it, screw around with it for a week, and then give it back.

Oh, its not the gas / nitro part ( although, I did blow my engine like 10 times in a row till i figured that out... ). Its the fact that for no appararent reason, the game tries to steer your car... SORTA. If you let it drive, it smashes your ass into a van, if you try to drive, you constantly have to fight against the autopilot. If the autopilot was gone I would be much much happier!

I didn't like the demo. The cars didn't handle well at all. I do like arcady racing games, but they still need to have good car control and after playing pgr3 and nfs:ms full auto felt bad.

I'll wait for Burnout to satisfy my road rage.

Dudes defending the game - read the reviews first. The framerate is absolute shit: <20 fps in 720p and only fluid when you are playing in 480p.

I think that's only Euro. I know the demo was silky smooth for me at 720p. Unless they royally f'd up the final code.

The thing that kills me is that this game seems to again have no way to play a private game. 1st COD2 and now this game.. WTF?!?!?

If someone out there was able to identify a way to do this I would be grateful. But from what I can see, they just plain left it out....

Bastards.
