I don't know how much everybody here has been following this game but recently a new character has been revealed and Kotaku (http://kotaku.com/5382025/do-you-know-this-ladys-name) has the info!

Meet, Oerba Yun Fang:

Note: Her summon/aeon/guardian is "The Dragon King", Bahamut.

I'm not really into Final Fantasy (I belive things with the word 'Final' in the title shouldn't still be going after 20+ years.)

I think she has a manish face. Seriously. Kinda Jennifer Garnerish. Reminds me of that one chick from the creepy myspace ad. Not very sexy.

Never liked any of the FF games.

I thought this was another one of those guys that looked like girls. I think it's hilarious that this one is actually a girl!

I think Squeenix was going for a "Christie Monteiro" vibe with Oerba, they should've stuck with sexy bunny women like Fran.

There's a reason I stopped enjoying Final Fantasy games (I love playing the old ones still, on my DS). I don't care for their artistic direction at all. Androgynous, hermaphroditic pre-adolescent central characters are not interesting. They're creepy.

I guess if you can't have children you may as well go with manginas. Yawn. As if I didn't have enough reason to depart more from the Final Fantasy seroes is falling square (pun intended) into the Gran Turismo category for me. By the time they get around to releasing it something as good or better will have come out ala Forza 3.

I bought my PS/3 for FF and the way things are going now the game is going to come out MAYBE in time to hit this console generation.

Only FFVII for me but the androgyny in the series is horrible. I thought that was a guy. The art is usually pretty but yeah I often have no idea of the sex of the person on first view.

I have mixed feelings about this game. It looks amazing graphically, but after watching the new English trailer, the dialogue looks so damn bad its ridiculous.

Maybe it speaks to why the games industry is filled with women with enormous breasts. If they're not pontoons gamers get confused...

I lost 100% interest in this game when they said a new "feature" was being able to just press one button during normal battles to have the computer make actions and quickly get though the encounters.

That's like them admitting that the battle system, which used to BE Final Fantsy, has become boring and of little relevance to the game.

It's a very Japanese character design convention to have the main characters have the most pristine anatomical features as possible - even if it breaks the suspension of disbelief. But on the other hand, it's a very western design convention to have the main characters be a war hardened hard-ass with a shaved head and rough features. Maybe some point the two philosophies will meet in the middle.

As for the newly introduced character, I'm digging her design and I'm very glad to hear they've thrown in an Aussie accent. It seems like there are a lot of haters of FF on EvAv, and I've seen the "It's called Final but keeps coming out with new games" schpeil more times than I can count. The games are definitely not for everyone, but as long as they keep up the production quality and fun factor, I'll keep buying them. I don't give a shit if the world Final is in the title.

Edit: Actually I'm not really sure what it is. It's like the uncanny valley. I know something is wrong, I just can't specify what it is exactly.

Nah, its the shoulder and the bicep. As well as the hair style.

Cover up those things and nobody would say the face itself down't look female. (yes women have chins shaped like that).

Even if you just cover up the lower half if looks clearly like a woman. I think people just don't like the shoulder/bicep/tatoo. Those are all "unwomanly" and I think it's what's causing people to think "man".

Her chin is too long, making it alone look masculine, and her arms are fairly muscular. Apart from that she is quite feminine.

What's hilarious to me is look where he knee is and where her hips sit. She must have a 4 foot long femur :P Illustrator fail. You lean forward that much your elbow ends up on your knee.

I don't think she looks like a man at all. The women in Final Fantasy all look like women. The problem for me is that men do too. I'd also be interested in a middle ground between this type of woman and the type of woman that Itagaki puts in his games.

The face is very off-putting to me. I feel like her body is a fairly realistic depiction of a human being, but the face is pristine and perfect. It's like she's wearing a mask or something.

Interestingly yes... it has been scientifically proven that fat people are only good for comic relief. Also fat men are "cozy"-funny while fat women are ugly-funny in a get-them-out-of-my-face-lol kind of way.

looking at that pic, i can't tell if that's a woman or man... since they like their men to look like their women in games...
- It's the shiny pink lips that gives it away as a girl, and the fact that the chin comes to a point, that's a feminine feature. If they lifted her jawline she'd look classically feminine.
