The folks at Gamespy flew over to Korea to get a hands-on preview (http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/sun-soul-of-the-ultimate-nation/688377p1.html) of the SUN beta, aka Souls of the Ultimate Nation.

If you've watched the early gameplay trailers (http://www.happypuppy.com/games.php?action=playmovie&gameid=1980&movurl=aHR0cDovLzY1LjU2LjEuMjE0L3N1bl9nYW1lcGxheV8 xLndtdg==#), (a very early trailer as it states - in this english trailer - "Coming Summer 2005") you may think that this is an MMO that will play much like Dynasty Warriors but with a fantasy setting. While it is true that you and your group will fight multiple enemies at a time, and that every character will be a damage dealing badass, Gamespy reports that the gameplay is much more like that found in Guild Wars.

If you want an easy comparison, SUN is most akin to Guild Wars. The only times you'll reside in a persistent world is when you're in town, setting up groups. Whenever you're actually engaged in gameplay -- that is to say, killing monsters and picking up loot -- will happen in an instanced area, which is private to you and your group. PvP will happen in much the same way; you'll spawn a private map, invite whoever you wish to participate, set up teams, and have a match. It bears mention that SUN doesn't focus on PvP nearly as heavily as Guild Wars does, but more on that later. At this point, it's looking like SUN will be primarily PvE focused. And as you know, when it comes time to face legions of unforgiving monsters, it pays to know your role, and play it well.
Be sure to read the full preview for details on the character classes if this interests you.

Finally an MMO where I get to manage my own gas giant! Will it support player orbits?

It took way longer than it should have for me to start laughing.

It wasn't a very good joke, I'll admit. Next time I'll add penguins or porn. Both are garunteed internet funny.

Could this be the MMO that everyone around the world unites to play and isn't called WoW? Or will they simply combine into Wowsun? The fact that the game will probably not be balanced properly is bad, the fact that the game has cool looking moves and may be fun is good.

Wait poor translation of a name, anime characters doing rapid martial arts moves, silly large swords... Is this game from Korea?

You are hi - as in me HIjacking this thread - if you think that's true. I'm 57 now and I have about 20 alts ~35+ on various servers. When I get to 60, it's going to be about fleshing out my gear and completing the god-knows how many 50+ quests I skipped grinding to 60. PLENTY of shit still to do.

Nother Korean mmorpg *sigh*

I dont expect the gameplay to deviate much from the typical lineage bandwagon. Anyways, these guys are coming out with huxley also, so im saving my exitment for that one ^^

Webzen is the publisher, not the developer. I think Huxley is being developed state side, or lemme rephrase that, I pray Huxley is being developed stateside as these Asian MMOs are all style and no substance.

couldn't agree more. Sure the art style may be unique, but that's not what sells games (at least in North America; can't speak for the Asian market).
