It looks like the Kameo patch to allow co-op play over Live is finally on its way (http://www.planetxbox360.com/index.php?view=article&article=882&cat=1).
“Co-op over Live is currently in the last stages of debugging and should be available very soon. And there are firm plans to release more downloadable content soon after - details of which will be made available soon. Watch this space...”
For something that was supposed to be available shortly after launch...it's sure taking a while.

I have Kameo, but I never got into playing the single player, so it's hard to get excited about co-op over Live.

Considering it's not exactly the top-seller for the system, I'm happy to see that they're continuing along with it and they want to make sure it is bug-free, that's comitment that should be appreciated, regardless if the feature was supposed to be there earlier.

Do you remember the time it took for Mechwarrior to release additional maps, despite the splash on the box advertising them? This is not that bad, comparitively.

Hey, let's release an incomplete game so we can have it out at launch!

Look at it this way ... last generation, you never would have seen the co-op at all. Now at least you can download it.

Incomplete? Not from what I've heard. I've heard the game runs pretty flawlessly, actually. Is not having a multiplayer mode "incomplete?" Well shit, I guess most games are incomplete then!
A game like Kameo doesn't demand an online experience. But rather than scrap the whole thing, Rare didn't include a half-done version in the box; they witheld it, concentrated on the rest of the game, and now can go back and give the co-op the attention the mode deserves. So the multiplayer is just a bonus for those that want it.
Incomplete? Hardly.

Good point. My only gripe is when I talked to the Rare rep it sounded like it was done but they didn't finish it in time to get it on the disc for replication.

Well shit, I guess most games are incomplete then! No, it was actually supposed to come with an online multiplayer element, unlike most of those other games you are referring to. They rushed it out the door without the multiplayer in order to make it a launch title.

Is that the game you are talking about or the system in general? :D

Game deveolopment is far more complex than just.. "Rushed" or "Done".
Games would never really be done unless they were forced by business decisions to be released. No game designer will ever tell you that he wouldn't have liked another few weeks or a month to polish a title. Even gaves that you think are complete had lots of content that, for whatever reason, was cut or omited due to time, money or functionality. Games, movies, anything produced in this way, are ripped from the hands of creative and productive staff not because they are perfect, but because they are done enough to satisfy a release. Kameo is a bug-free, visually attractive game, that was hardly rushed in the sense you mean.

Actually, I wish they would have delayed the multiplayer more if it meant they could do more than just offer small level samples. I loved Kameo, but playing it multiplayer only in small sectioned off levels is kind of lame.

I think DoctorSetebos sums it up well, when a title was supposted to have features and they cut them at the last second so that they could ship by a certain date - after advertising those features in Press Releases - consumers do have a right to be a little miffed.

Fortunately, they can always update the multiplayer feature in the future; it's not like they won't have a chance to tinker around with it at all.

bapenguin,
Thats good news, now go finish Kameo heh.
I just started playing it this past weekend and should finish it soon. It'll be fun to go back through co-op via Live. I highly doubt anyone in this thread making negative remarks about the game has even played it but hey...they have just as much right to post silly shit as we do. There are only two things I don't like about the game - the loading screens and Deep Blue. Now, the loading screens are quick but sadly everywhere when you travel from one area to the next and are not that big of a deal. I just wanted to mention it all the same. However, Deep Blue is one of the worst characters to control I have ever come across. That character is really the only downer about the game so far IMHO but I still have to finish it.
I've spent time exploring in between Shadow Troll / Boss fights and the game world is just a lot of fun to check out. The game really isn't something that stands out to me but I don't regret buying it on any level. It's a fun, fast game to play through while we wait for the next wave of 360 titles.
Also...
Could someone here provide a quick explaination on the "A" Ranking achievements offered in Kameo. I didn't RTFM yet :o but I'm wondering what you have to do to get those. Thanks.

So if Rare left the half-done multiplayer in the final product, people would bitch about it being half done, broken, worthless, etc.
Sometimes there's no pleasing us gamers.

Personally, I'm all about Kameo. It's like Zelda, but with a combat engine that doesn't suck. Not to flame Nintendo or Zelda, I do usually like the franchise, but combat is not one of it's high points. My only complaint is length, they even have a lot of secondary content for you to find. It just doesn't have enough length. Hopefully they'll release some add-on levels in the future, but whatever they release, I'm looking forward to it.

NUH-UH! You didn't get the "Game Complete" achievement by finding every freaking fruit, crystal and elixir!
...Sorry. I've started competing with one of my friends for achievement scores, and this is one he dinged me on. I think this whole achievement thing is going to regress me back to when me and my buddies would brag about high scores to each other. :o

I always loved console games because I could take it to a friend's house, plug it in and *bam* it always worked. I can go buy a console game that's ten years old, plug it in at home, and *bam* the whole working game is there.
Now consoles are turning into PC games. Now I have to wait for the update to download to get everything. If I buy this game ten years from now, it will have missing features because the download content will not exist.
I miss the days when console games were released when they were complete.

Dude... who would you be playing online co-op with ten years down the road? How would you play if Live didn't exist or function for this game? The rest of the content is stuff that never would of been in the game to begin with, so you wouldn't be losing out.

Oh man I LMAO when I read this exchange :-)
Thats what I was trying to point out even though I had no idea thats what it took to obtain that achievement. Thanks for the information Kirath42, looks like we have some more playing to get in.
I love this stuff.
