The word around the campfire is that the newly released (in North America) Atlus game, Demon's Souls is really freakin' hard... but totally awesome. Destructiod (http://www.destructoid.com/demon-s-souls-has-a-death-toll-you-re-just-a-statistic-151197.phtml) has word that apparently, they're keeping track of how many times you die... they find your death hilarious.

Yesterday evening, after less than a day on store shelves, the number of deaths in the game's first area registered at over 3,000. Atlus counted the bloodstains of fallen players and boasted of the lives lost that day. While it's not confirmed, I am 100% certain they were laughing as they did this.

"Death toll in Boletaria Castle area one as of 5:30PM PST: 3,479 bloodstains," announced the company.

I'm pretty sure I need to play this game.

This game is awesome! The online features they've implemented really make the game a lot of fun. I suggest if anyone can get the deluxe edition, get it. The strategy guide that comes with it is excellent and will help you to survive....for at least a few minutes longer ;)

It is kicking my ass. I've been playing pansy mode far too long with other games. This game is R. Lee Emory and I'm its Private Pyle.

I've died IN THE STARTING AREA at least 20 times.

And I'm loving it :).

My problem isn't with the difficulty of the challenges but with the fact that they make it such a pain in the ass to get back in the game. It all sounds really cool on paper, but quickly becomes a chore in-game.

They didn't seem to bother localizing the title to not sound like Engrish, so I'm guessing the differences are minimal.

I had a Korean version imported several months ago and it was about the best 70 bucks I ever spent. What an awesome game.

They did update some of the in-game text and item names to make more sense. All the patches are on the disc so it is fully up to date with shadows and such. Also the online portion is on an American server so it is seperate from the import. Other then that it is exactly the same game. Deluxe Edition comes with the strategy guide which is exclusive to this release.

i went to 4 stores yesterday @ northgate mall (in north seattle). Gamestop asked if i had a preorder, all other copies were sold out. Target, best buy, and toys r us all looked at me blankly and said they had no such game in their system.

Looks like it's sold out in all the stores around here too. I'm glad I pre-ordered it. I'm thinking nobody expected much initial demand for another Atlus game... usually they're more for the niche crowds. Looks like you'll have no trouble ordering it online though.

A side point: you know all of those stores let you check local product availability online right? You might have saved yourself some time and trouble.

heh When you do get it, it's awesome. I made the mistake of letting some other people in the house play, now everyone's fighting over playtime. I have to work all weekend too; I'll be playing catch-up when I finally get another chance to play...
