According to this news piece (http://www.gamecloud.com/article.php?article_id=3469) on Gamecloud (http://www.gamecloud.com), the writing that's been on the wall for oh-so-long on Gizmondo is finaly readable for all to see.
A couple of weeks ago, Gizmondo Europe was ordered to be liquidated by a UK court and the owners of the failed handheld console, Tiger Telemantics, stated in an SEC report that the future of their US Gizmondo operations was also in question. Well the shoe has dropped on at least one part of US operations as this posy on the Cinematicweapon.com (http://www.cinematicweapon.com/blog/archives/00000088.html) web site (run by Gizmondo Texas member Wynne McLaughlin confirms that the development studio was indeed shut down two weeks ago as well. Gizmondo Texas started in 2000 in Austin Texas as Fever Pitch Studios, formed by former members of the now defunct Digital Anvil who then finished off the 2D space based Conquest: Frontier Wars. That game was published by UbiSoft in 2001.
Wow, I wonder how many investors are checking their bank balances right now and wondering how they're going to finance their upcoming trip to Hawaii.

Everyone who invested in that company - everyone - was gullible. Sorry.

Not surprised, not even sorry. Any game system that makes you look at ads after you pay money for it is pretty crapy, and has none of my pity when it dries up and crusts over.

The Gizmondo failed? I can't believe it. :(
I'm not surprised, but I am sorry. I had a friend working in the Austin branch.
He's a very talented artist, but has had a long period of unemployment and short-term employment (Acclaim, Origin, now Gizmondo) and had to take the first job he was offered.

But Electronic Arts produced SSX3 for it!!!!!!!!! That's what carries other systems right? How will I know where the other two gizmondo owners are if I can't own one? :(

Seriously, they should have just given me all of their money. I would go out, make a laughingstock of myself, and get paid, and go home...only difference is right now i'm not getting paid :(

No, we really really did want the gizmondo to go under. An underpowered handheld system with little to no developer support that had MANDATORY advertisements built in and was more expensive than all the other handhelds on the market?
I used to work there, and I'm glad the system did exactly what we all knew it was designed to do from day one... die at the expense of shareholders. I'm also glad I quit before I spent too much time developing any of the vaporware for the system, what a waist.
edit - ok nevermind obviously you were being sarcastic. sarcasism is hard to pickup in text damnit :P

Yes I was being sarcastic.
I know what its like working for a company who's management has completely retarded ideas, a project doomed to fail and make alot of investors angry.
And you just cant wait to see the look on your boss's face when the company goes under :)

I remember the Gizmondo guy at the counter in Northgate Mall, looking me straight in the eye and telling me how great SSX3 looked on it. On and On he went.
...until I whipped out my PSP and showed him that version. Night and day difference in the quality of graphics and gameplay.
...and he was noticably embarrassed.
