Poor ol' Harrison Ford. What a career he might have had if only he'd chosen some decent scripts...

If you have kids, Curious George is a great movie for them. My kids sat through it with no problems. It is not an adult film or have stuff in it for adults, it is a kid film. Very enjoyable.

The Pink Panther is receiving some really undeserved bashing, yes it is an obvious remake of the Peter Sellers original, but it is still actually really funny, Steve Martin can always get the laughs.

I think many people are turned off by the marketing. They hype the fact that Beyonce knowles is sexy. wow. What a stretch. She still can't act.
more power to the Steve, though. I love his work.

You say it like he hasn't had an historic career? He's starred in movies that will be remembered for a very long time (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Blade Runner).
On another note, January movies are horrid.

I vomit on Steve Martin. The Jerk, Plains, Trains and Automobiles, um... Dirty Rotten Scoundrels to some extent were good. Everything else makes me cringe.
Oh, Novocaine was excellent. I guess the deal is that I don't hate Steve Martin so much as I can't stand his schtick.

Again, shitty movies dominate.
Even thought I hear Final Destination 3 isn't shitty, so much as it's just not new.
Harrison Ford has been in crap since I was a little kid. Air Force One anyone? The guy will be remembered for the 1980's, and forgotten for the 90's and on.

Curious George has a great soundtrack. But I am just gay for Jack Johnson.

FD3 was good for the gore... I like movies that make tennagers into punks you just want to see die and then BAM they get it good... I mean they make each one seem like a asshole or too stupid to be living you'd want to beat up your self if death wasn't going to the job.

Putting aside Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Blade Runner, Harrison Ford has been in a few very good movies. Firewall isn't one of them but it isn't total crap either. I mean, it isn't Deuce Bigelow European Jigelow, right?
Are you saying that The Fugitive and Witness were crap? What about American Graffiti?

I bought the album because I like his stuff a lot too. It seems like it has two sides to it, though with "We're Going to be Friends" being the bridge song beween the two sides. I like the first side, it's more like a "light" version of traditional Jack Johnson, more minimalist and without the biting sarcasm, but still good. The second side, however, is definitely targeted towards kids, and while there are some great songs on there with some catchy tunes, it's not exactly the type of stuff I'd listen to on a regular basis. If I had children I'm sure I'd appreciate the album even more, there are lots of really positive messages and fun original songs on it. As it is, though, it just makes me want another regular Jack Johnson album again, as I only got 2/5ths of one this time. Still a nice surprise.

Granted, Harrison Ford hasn't been in anything good lately that I can recall but I liked Air Force One, The Fugitive, and the Jack Ryan movies so I wouldn't say the 90's were a total loss for Han. The fact that another awful remake is number 1 this week makes me want to cry. What is Steve Martin thinking lately with the awful roles he is taking, Cheaper by the Dozen anyone? He is too good for the kind of crap he has been churning out.

I saw Firewall...it was entertaining, up until about halfway through where it felt like they ran out of funding. Really good up to that point though.

When you've got Harrison Ford's filmography, I'll cut you some slack for a bad decade.
I just can't honestly believe those two movies made more than 20m.
People must be farkin desperate.

I won't go see The Pink Panther. In my mind, there is only one Inspector Clouseu, and he was played by Peter Sellers. Anyone else trying to play the role, can't match his genious.
On the other hand, Steve Martin has made some good movies. Bowfinger comes to mind. As does Father of the Bride (both films). Who can forget The Three Amigos?
There isn't a single actor working today who has made A+++ movies for their entire career. Everyone makes duds. It's a fact. Even Jame Stewart, Humphrey Bogart, Spencer Tracy, and Cary Grant made duds. Julia Roberts won an oscar for Erin Brockovich and then (a few films later) made the crap that was Ocean's Twelve.

Did you watch it or judge it from commercials? I saw it, it was pretty good and worth renting. Very distinctly "rent worthy" versus seeing it in the theater.

No, and I won't go see it. I want to be part of the solution, not the problem. :) The fact that this movie has been finished for more than a year and they just now released it speaks volumes. I won't begrudge anyone for trying to make a dollar, but enough already. There was that awful movie with Queen Latifah, then the Cheaper by the Dozen flicks, and now this abomination. Does Steve Martin really need the money that bad?
As much as I liked Steve from the Jerk and other classic films, I just can't bring myself to pay to see anyone shit on Peter Seller's work. Even if Steve nailed it, it ain't right to me.

Martins a good comic actor but Sellers is unmatchable in that role. I seen the original Pink Panther the other day and its just hysterical..Sellers is brilliant in it.

From what I read Harrison was highly involved in much of that movie, he made changes to the story and his character.
I urge anyone who wants to be entertained by something intelligent to go see The Matador. It'll be gone soon, since there is no room for quality R-rated movies in this society, but it's very very good.

Damn, the US is in a major quality movie slump. Although, I really don't feel sorry for anyone in the movie industry. It's about time they had a slump and worry about their jobs like the rest of us. Between shitty movies and the HD era, Hollywood and the rest of the US movie industry better get their act together, or else! :D

It's in his contract. He has rights to script approval and casting choices ... and alot more. He's still a big international star so I would imagine there's still money to be made from his movies.

I don't know where I was when they released the stuff into the water, but I've never found Peter Sellers remotely entertaining. Which is to say, I've never enjoyed anything he's done, including any Pink Panther movies.
Then again, whenever a protagonist is so obtusely stupid, be it a film or a book, I get annoyed. I don't find people who act stupid funny.

It's a Wonderful Life was a box office flop. John Wayne had his Alamo.
Almost the entire first half of Bogey's career was crap. Grant was about 50/50.

Watch "The Party (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0063415/)" from 1968. I dare you not to laugh.

Did you ever see Dr. Strangelove? That movie doesn't work without some of the characters being the special kind of dumb that they are. It was kinda the point. Peter Sellers played a few roles in it, all funny.

I really need to stop reading this thread. I'm going to get an ulcer from these opinions. At this point I am totally convinced half of you just make issues up in order to bitch out movies.
And also...fuck The Matador . The hype about it around this site needs to end. It failed all expectations.

There are quite a few gamers here under the (false) impression that videogames are comparable to movies in most ways, and better all around, and so bash movies as a way to trump up their preferred entertainment. It's pretty annoying, I agree.
