State of Emergency 2 takes place 10 years after the original and has Spanky, Bull and MacNeill again up against the Corporation. This time, they not only have access to guns but also - for the first time - helicopters, speedboats, Tanks and APCs and new team members.
The game starts with Freedom discovering that the Corporation has fed the population a mind control drug with their fast food to subdue them. Freedom regroups in order to yet again rid society of the brutal Corporation and to return society to the realm of democracy. Escape the gas chamber, infiltrate the drug baron’s lair, destroy the drug stores and generally cause mayhem to win the day. Many new game-play elements such as a reputation system, gang control, interrogation, driving and flying vehicles add to the fun.

I didn't play the first SoE, but I'm slightly interested in SoE2 based on a video preview I saw over at GameTrailers. I'll wait to see what the reviews say, but I'm not discounting this game out of hand.

So they still don't have access to The Fun?

It's good that they are making a sequel, considering how well the first one did.

Fool me once, shame on you.
I returned the first State of Emergency the day after I picked it up. I couldn't stand it.
It looked like it would be fun. It sounded like it would be fun.
They convinced me it would be a good game.
I was lied to.
They're not going to fool me twice.

I agree with this sentiment, but I'm not sure it applies in this case. This game was made by a different company. That is, not by the dev that made the first SoE game. Hell, it could still be total crap. I haven't played it, so I have no idea. But I wouldn't hold the crappiness of the first one against the second.
Even though SoE was a bit of a steaming turd, running around the mall level in multiplayer while listening to Megadeth's "Symphony of Destruction" was a good time. Mindless and useless, but the carnage was still a bit of fun.

I hated the original. Came with my PS2. I traded it in the next day.

Regarding Worthplaying, the article reads like a press release. Rain, you need to "coach" or fire your editors.
People were fooled into buying this thing, because they thought it had somehting to do with GTA/R*.
This one smells as bad or worse, 'cause R* can't even be bothered to publish it.
