According to IGN (http://ps2.ign.com/articles/686/686348p1.html), the sequel to Shadow Hearts 2 (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/915253.asp) will finally hit US stores on March 7 for only $39.99.

Shadow Hearts 2 was an excellent RPG all around, and a crazy one as well. Looking forward to this.

The best RPG series on the PS2 that isn't Final Fantasy.

Actually, those aren't my words, but I don't know where I heard them. A pretty good description, though. This series is overlooked for unknown reasons...probably stupid box art. Very nice battle system to keep you engaged, too.

I feel like such a turd, I didnt make it through the first one. I think I'll have to give it another shot.

Shame on you! Go play them. The second is much better than the first, but the first one is worth playing.

I disagree. The first one had a FAR more horror/macabre atmosphere, while the second one just kind of used it as a backdrop. Shadow Hearts was the real breakthrough, while SH2 just kind of made it more mainstream. I still love 'em both, and am amazed this turned into a big series.

Uh, yeah, on second thought maybe you should stick to SH2.

I've only beaten the first one, but it definitely might be an aquired taste. I really liked the game but some of the dialogue and characters were downright silly for such a serious and brooding game.

I want to play the second, I have it but will probably wait until I finish Grandia III.

I loved Shadow Hearts 2 with a passion.

If Shadow Hearts 3 can keep the surreality of the first two (4 words: gay porn power ups), then I'm happy.

I also loved the setting of the first two games. WWI Europe (with Japan & Russia in the sequel). Having an RPG with a somewhat contemporary setting but keeping a goofy yet serious atmosphere really made it for me.

And the Judgement Ring is great.

If you didn't like the first one, I highly recommend giving the second one a try. They've refined so much from the first one and expanded the cast of characters greatly.

I've got them both, and I can't honestly pick a favorite. They're both have a very different feeling about them. I highly recommend tracking them down. And do start with the first or third if possible; the stories of 1 and 2 are heavily intertwined, but 3's got its own story, I hear.

I guess. SH2 just felt more polished and perfected to me. It's a shame this new one strays from the story of the first two.

I only finished the first (which was the sequel to Koudelka for PSOne btw), and I loved it big-time. I was surprised when I saw SH2 in the stores a few months ago, cause it slipped under my radar. With SH3 coming out I really wish I had the time to actually play through SH2 first, but I havent even bought it yet. Just hope I can get hold of a copy somewhere... oh well, hail to sequels, gotta love'em!

Not a shame at all. The story was completed entirely. I think it's great that we're getting a completely new story in the Shadow Hearts world, and I hope we get more.

But there's more than enough jRPGs that have a different story every time. The one ending of SH2 left it way open. But, if they're saying the *bad* ending was the official ending, then I have to applaud them. It was much better.

You know, I never got the bad ending for Shadow Hearts 2. At least, I don't think I did. I've only ever gotten 1 ending, and it was not sad at all. Could you do me a favore and spoil it for me?

Oh, and the only thing I'm sad about for SH3 is seeing Yuri go. He is one of my favorite video game characters. I know his story is complete, but it's still sad to see him gone.

Spoilers!!!!

If I remember correctly the bad ending is where Yuri dies, and he ends up on the train with Alice. The *Good* ending is where Yuri is still alive but has no idea who he is. I think Bacon finds him.

I believe that's it. Someone can correct me if I'm mistaken.

*blinks twice*

Well, then I've always gotten the bad ending. Heh, I thought that was a rather good ending, myself, as Yuri ends up where he most wants to be.

That sounds about like the same ending I got. I thought it was a good ending too. *shrug*

It's all about the answer you give before you go to the final fight, I believe.

I haven't played 2 yet, but the first game had a good and bad ending, too. Doesn't the second game assume you got the bad ending? I went above and beyond to get the good, however. I think it would have been nicer not to, though.
