There have been various rumors have been circling the 'net about asequel to the LEGO Star Wars title for the past few days. LucasArts (http://lucasarts.com/) and TT Games have finally put those rumors to rest with an official announcement (http://lucasarts.com/press/releases/106.html) and screenshots (http://screenshots.teamxbox.com/gallery/1407/LEGO-Star-Wars-II-The-Original-Trilogy/p1) regarding LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. The official title of the game is not set in stone but the following is.
Created by TT Games and developed by Traveller’s Tales, LEGO Star Wars II is slated for release this fall across seven platforms. May the Force build with you on Xbox video game system from Microsoft, PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Sony PSP, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Game Boy Advance and Windows.
With a comical take on the Star Wars Trilogy that revolutionized pop culture forever (Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI Return of the Jedi), LEGO Star Wars II follows the Rebel Alliance’s battle to dismantle the Galactic Empire and rebuild a galaxy in pieces.
Thanks to TeamXbox (http://www.teamxbox.com/) for the scoop. (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10228/LEGO-Star-Wars-II-The-Original-Trilogy-Announced/)
I am glad this was finally confirmed, the original was short but great fun.

Oh sweet! And since it's three movies it should be longer than the first right? Or was the first more than one as well. *head scratch*

I will Gamefly the original someday dammit. I'm leaving gamefly spots open for the 2/16 games: Full Auto, Drakenguard 2, and Grandia III. Then there are quite a few 2/22 games and 3/9 games coming too (Gamefly dates are behind official release dates as they have to process new inventory or something).
I'll probably get it this summer. . . or pick up a used copy when it is under $20.

Lego Star Wars was a lot of fun. It was funny, easy, and it had co-op. What's not to love? I'll gladly pick up a sequel devoted just to the prequels.

Even though the first one is "teh kiddie", I love it. The puzzles make it fun for all ages. Looking forward to part 2...

I wasn't sure what to think of this game when I first played it, but the moment I accidently hacked off one of C3P0's legs and saw him hopping around on one foot, I was sold!

My mistake. I'm always wishy-washy on those three. Either way, I'm way psyched about this.

Well it was released a couple months before episode III hit the theaters and I know the PC box added a big blue label touting the fact that you could play 1-3 so I think there was some confusion about this across the board.
And yeah, a sequel that will included 4-6 is a good thing.

I loved the first one, but it'll be interesting to see how they change the gameplay. The first one was very jedi-centric, with the bulk of the puzzles requiring the force to solve. Since the original trilogy is rather short on jedi, they'll need to be a bit more creative with the puzzles.

They'll probably involve shooting wamp rats in a T-16 and whining to your uncle.
