Sure to inspire many, many angry posts from people with no sense of humor, AOL Games has a Valentine's Day feature (http://videogames.aol.com/features/valentinesday) that includes a list of aging game franchises we should all break up with. Plus dating tips for gamers.

But why would I want to break up with Castlevania? I really do not think I can do much better.

The game that needed to be in there most -- Counter Strike -- was missing. How I wish people would get over it.

Yeah, but they are still right, for the most part. I think Halo should have been on there. There is nothing with as much worship as Halo. But Castlevania is still good in 2D. 3d Castlevania is called Devil May Cry as far as I am concerned.

Halo doesn't count because it is still relatively new. Most of the games on there have 5-10 titles to their name...

HALO is only just beginning to be worshipped. Wait until the Summer of 2007 when HALO3 and the movie come out. That might be the Pinnacle of HALO.

I guess the franchise I would think of is Street Fighter although if Capcom would make a new one and keep it 2D with high resolution and awesome animation...

3,5 and 9 in the dating tips were funny everything else was just stupid. Maybe if any of those articles were on any other site besides AOL gaming they would be funny i mean fucking AOL come on. I hate them more than EA and modern Sony combined.

I figured there'd be backlash over Castlevania. I agree, it's the odd man out in that bunch.

No problems with the *3D* Castelvanias being on that list.

Surprised the HL1 engine and its many mods aren't on it.

They were right about abandoning Rainbow Six, but for the completely wrong reasons...

And knocking Castlevania right after Dawn of Sorrow is one of the dumber things I've seen in a while.

As long as you stick with "Wizard need food, badly." You venture into other areas with that and there may be some real trouble.
