Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/) has a Q&A (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/strategy/startreklegacy/news.html?sid=6144009) up with Dr. Ian Davis, creative director of Mad Doc, about Star Trek: Legacy coming for PC and XBox 360.
GS: Give us a basic overview of Legacy. It sounds like a real-time tactical game, but will there be any kind of real-time strategy elements like base-building or unit construction? What's the focus of the game?
ID: The short answer is that we've put in a lot of strategic and tactical elements such as taking over planets, defending and attacking starbases, using nebulas to hide in, and being able to tackle multiple objectives with multiple ships, but we've tried very hard to stay with a unique flavor of Trek realism. That is, I've always wanted to do a game that is faithful to the scale and timescale of the series. The gameplay is sort of like a squad shooter, but with spaceships.
Sounds pretty good. I've never been a fan of Star Trek games though.
Thanks Morratut for the tip.

It looks like it could be fun. Have been a long time fan of Starfleet Command. This one seems like a...less slow version of it.

I'm excited to see this on the 360. The world needs a good Star Trek game...
And if any publishers are reading - could one of you get on securing the rights to a Battlestar Galactica game? Cus it's the best show on TV right now. Thanks.

Reanimated best show on tv is a bit of a bloated statement ain't it?
Sure they have the Defiant but any DS9

I can't think of anything better. I'd say 24, but the premise of that show has gotten so busted that it almost negates the awesomeness of Jack Bauer. I don't watch Lost, but I'm sure fans of that show will probably disagree with me.

It's up there with my top ten of good shows. Sci-Fi's whole friday night line up is in my top ten. Lost is above however except for when you have to suffer a lame back story like hurley's or something. Number one would have to be Scrubs, although I'm still waiting for prison break to come back. Then there's that cartoon. Anybody seen Avatar the Last Airbender?
Not to mention the CSI shows pull in more views over all still. But it's like with three of those going on, how many more odd ass crimes have they not done. Not to mention you can storyboard a CSI Miami because Heratio Caine is a douche every single time. Glasses on, cheesy catch phrase type line, glasses off another catch phrase type line, aim gun at obvious bad guy, case close.

I actually agree with his assesment of BSG, Best show on TV. It is all opinion but Lost couldn't get me interested and I really don't care for any non sci fi shows aside from The daily show and Colbert report :)

One thing that's beginning to annoy me is this "frak" word. Motherfrakers ain't cutting it.

Love that Frackin show.
the frak thing is from the original series. The network actually told them to stop using it back in the 80's.
That's just fracked up. :D

Star Trek: Legacy - Looks good. Glad they are working late on it.
However, I'm pretty sure it will disappoint me because while this looks super fun, it isn't the Star Trek game I've always wanted. Honestly, what I'd really like is a Star Trek RPG with scripted stories that immitate the show's episodes (not directly. . . new episodes). I'm really hoping that the Star Trek MMO can deliver this in 2007 (or more likely 2008).
On TV shows: I love Lost (and I find Hurley's back stories to be interesting because he has such a "normal" past Xerxes. . . plus, he gives major back story to the Numbers). Runners up include Scrubs, The Office, E.R. (still good even after all these years), and Project Runway. . . I know that makes me a weirdo. . . I'm not into fashion or anything, but I really like it because reality shows that pit people in contests where they have to actually produce and show off their expertise and skill are interesting. The Apprentice has become overproduced since the first season and American Idol has always been overproduced. It is really fun to see what the different fashion designers come up with each week when given a task, and to "pick the winner". Wednesday is my only day that I set aside for watching television, but I try to watch Scrubs and The Office if I'm home and don't have a "killer" game to play.
Oh, I'm also a huge fan of The Daily Show, The Colber Report, Drawn Together, South Park, Boondocks (hilarious and very smart new cartoon on Adult Swim), Family Guy, and many other Adult Swim shows (some of them just for their short run like Samurai Champloo and Wolf's Rain). I'd love Futurama, but there just weren't ever that many shows to begin with and now I've seen every episode multiple times. . . I find myself turning the channel when it comes on or using it merely as something to flip to during Daily Show commercials.
I also enjoy BSG. . . but it certainly isn't anywhere near one of my favorites. The Captain, who is suppossed to be this great actor, leaves me completely bored. Also, they don't like to resolve plot points quickly enough for my tastes. . . It gets to the point where I can't respect the characters because they do not follow up on the many clues they are given. They seem incapable of bettering their situation to any degree. It would be a much better show if they were more capable, but faced continuous problems that held them back. . . continuous NEW problems. . . not simply the same problems over and over that they continue to be unable to surmount.

It's probably worth noting that in the BSG universe only about six months have passed. Hardly a surprise that struggling for survival would overshadow everything else (including trying to figure out why the cylons are doing what they're doing) only six months after armageddon.

True. However, he sometimes has little flashes where he's not phoning it in. His scenes with Starbuck are nice, and sometimes he does get things across with President Stands With A Fist.
Who I enjoy most though is Baltar. He's good at portraying barely holding on, though he slips at times when trying to portray genuine affection.
The only character that really bugs me is Commander Tipsy. He's such an ass, it's not funny or entertaining. How that guy holds down his job, I have no idea. The actor is very good at getting across that he has very few redeeming qualities. However, sometimes an actor's too good and you wonder if they really are as creepy as they act... kinda like James Woods.

Honestly, most real people spend their entire lives cought up in the same character flaws never bettering themselves at all.
I like BSG exactly for this. Every other show is just hard to get into because things are resolved... I like to see someone struggling with their problems. If you have ever known an alcoholic, you would know they act much like this and stay exactly that way. It is rather real when it comes down to the character issues. That might not suit some people. But I enjoy watching them suffer.
The real issue for me is the fact that some of them act like they have it under control. These people will have been on constant battle alert for months, they will have watched their homes get nuked, and will have the knowledge that no matter what...there will not be some new round of people to differ the pressure too. It is all on them.
This kind of pressure would cause me to lose control. I wouldn't be right...ever...after something like that.

captain - I like to think that I resolve my problems rather than repeating them over and over.
Besides, I'm not upset with character flaws. Characters can have enduring flaws. . . what I'm upset with is that they have the same plot lines for long periods of time without resolving them.
It's like one Trek episode extended for an entire season. Okay, so you have Cyclons infiltrating and sabotaging things. . . alright, this has gone on for six episodes and you have a wealth of clues pointing you in the direction of who is responsible. . . FIGURE IT OUT! Okay, so you have a mad doctor that somehow positions himself into power, but everyone thinks he is crazy because he appears to talk to himself and behaves strangely. . . why not give him critical positions that he can wrestle with over and over when he continuously fails?
I'm a fan of Lost. Extended story lines and themes are not really the problem. The problem is that the characters in BGS become victims of the writers. . . they frustrate me in their stupidity. . . or, when the characters aren't stupid, I become frustrated with the plot devices used to explain how they could possibly not figure things out.
You'd think that sci-fi would have picked up Firefly.
BGS is still going to get me to buy all their DVD sets (if they are reasonably priced). . . but I don't tune in to see it. If it is this frustrating when watching the DVDs, I can't imagine how frustrating it would be to watch week to week and not have plot lines resolved because of character stupidity or plot devices.
That is one thing that Lost does right. The characters on that show are inquisitive and intelligent. They investigate as much as they possibly can and figure things out. Occassionally, they'll have an obvious plot device to keep the viewer from not figuring out everything, but they give away hints and clues. I'm actually looking forward to watching every episode again after the show completes and I know what is going on. However, the characters never have blaring blind spots and every episode has a beggining, middle, and an end where several problems have been resolved (as well as new ones emerging).
That's what I want. Obviously, I don't think they need to give the Cyclons a lickin' and retake Earth by the end of the first season, but they could resolve a few of the character plot points and have the characters grow. . . How boring would Charlie have been on Lost if he was just a continuous drug addict for an entire season instead of fighting it and then being tempted (potentially) back into it? The mad doctor and the Cyclon spy (who doesn't know she is a spy) storylines are like that. . . spread it out over several episodes and that's fine, but eventually the character needs to grow or I just don't respect him.
