It looks like that nasty yellow pre-production model of the DS Lite (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9603) Nintendo gave the FCC earlier this week isn't a good representation of the final product. Nintendo of Japan recently took their Nintendo DS Lite web site live. Included on the site is a big 360 degree presentation of all three color units.

I'm pretty tired and read that title as "Nintendo DS, 360 lite." Needles to say, this excited me.

Does this thing use the same charger as the GBA Micro?

Cause it looks like it to me and that would be cool cause then i could just keep one charger pluged in for both my DS and my Micro.

Hey...I'm a GBA SP owner. Will the DS Lite backward compatible with the carts meant for GBA?

Wow, that looks sexy. Much better than those crappy FCC device prototype pictures.

I like the icy and navy blue one :)

Yeah, the Ds and DS lite are backwards compatible with GBA carts. They won't run GBC games though.

It looks more "boxy" to me. Like the edges are more square than the original.

The only complaint I have is what I've read in the instruction book about functionality. The GBA Micro has an awesome rocker switch which allows you to change the volume and change the backlight intensity on the fly. Its completely digital and it works well. The DS Lite looks to have almost the same adjustors as on the old model. You have an analog slider for volume, and apparently you can adjust the backlight in the OS, but not on the body. Also, wouldn't this be a good time to come out with a better OS for the DS? Like make it a bit more WiFi focused and put in the ability to get OS updates? All I'm saying -- It could be better, and I'm definately doubting whether I will spend money on it.

It was the lighting that made it look yellow.

In the other thread, someone colour corrected it for us to see how beautiful it should really be:

Yeah, cause the one in there prety much only does one thing: play kick-ass games.

Here's the thing: If folks wants PSPs, they sell them all over the place. The DS is plenty "WiFi focused" in that it allows you to play games over the Internet and wirelessly with local friends. That's as "focused" as the WiFi needs to be. All they (Nintendo and other DS developers) need to do is make sure each game's WiFi implementation is solid and fun, and I think that's all DS owners care about...

I hope they bring the stark white one here, I've been sad since I gave up my launch day Arctic GBA.

Tee hee. Whatever. The point is its still in its infancy stages and frankly I am spoiled by XBL. Friend Codes are not the best plan for adding frequent users to your play list. I've programmed network stuff a good bit, and I find it clunky. Besides that, why can't I turn on the DS and see what my friends are playing? Why can't I take a DS cartridge out of the system and put in another one without rebooting the entire thing? Why does every system setting, wireless game, or demo download require me to reboot the system when I finish with it? These are the issues I'm thinking about.

Here's the only picture worth your time:

The screen is a massive improvement. I call this "upgrade" bullshit, and that Nintendo had it the whole time. They must have started taking marketing classes.

I'll buy one sooner or later for Yoshi's Island, if anything.
