Over at Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=25406) comes news from the Tokyo Game Show that Microsoft is raising the max file size for XBLA arcade games again.
"In order to continue fostering the creation of great titles on the platform, Microsoft has increased the file size limit of XBLA titles to 2 GB. We pride ourselves in being the premier destination for downloadable games, and the new file size limit allows developers to push their creative boundaries."
Recent games on XBLA have proven that a higher download size will lead to better games, just look at Shadow Complex. Let's hope this leads to some more great games!

They'll keep changing the size limit every time they find a game that they think will sell a few million copies. This is nothing but some 'blah blah filler blah blah.'

Their statement is completely meaningless.
This is proof that Microsoft is a complete mess. Surprising they even survived this long with garbage products.

Ouch. Tough crowd tonight I guess. All I can see this doing is bringing in bigger and better XBLA games. If you can get a game like SSF2THD or Shadow Complex for 1200 points or $15.00, why are people complaining?

Didn’t Microsoft just raise the size limit not too long ago?

Networking data transfer costs, I assume.
I don't really care how big the games are to a certain point. However, they charge a stupid amount of money for HDD space. A really, really stupid amount of money by today's standards in storage pricing.

And since you pay a subscription for that...?
Microsoft is certainly taking one extreme: faulty hardware, expensive accessories, subscription fee, and size limits. However, it is working for them: people are speaking with their money, so they will keep doing it. Technically no problem there, just supply and demand. It would be nice if they were more consumer-friendly, but they are not obligated to be.

I can only admire Microsoft's business people. They are charging ridiculous amounts of money for hard drives that are really quite small by today's standards, and are actually selling tons of them because a hard drive is a necessity if you actually want to do something with the console.
It's annoying, but congrats to MS for having the balls to be completely ridiculous.

I have NOT bought an extra HDD, so :-p MS. But I did have to buy a second 360 when my launch console stopped reading DVDs 3 years later. :( When I did that I got a bigger HDD for free. Any way I do not plan on buying another HDD at this time due to their crazy prices.

Mine died from a non-covered hardware fault and I replaced it as well, getting a larger HDD in the process. I was not going to spend $100 replacing something that would just break in a few months again; it needed to be a new one.
MS is really working their customers over this generation. I wonder if people will remember or care when the next one rolls around.

Well to be fair, I had a PS1 die on me for the exact same reason...and come to think of it, my PS2 almost stopped reading discs, very sporadic, near the end of it's life, when the PS3 came out.
And on the PC side of the house I have had 2 CD readers die and NOTHING else on any PC ever die.
So it seems to me the optical media is the weak link in electronics.

Any moving part is less reliable than solid-state. That's why the move to SSD's is so nice.

Apart from current gen SSD's are an absolute minefield, the current Samsung based systems (i.e. all the oem market) degrade faster than hard drives by several orders of magnitude.
The intel ones are quite nice.
The 120/250GB HD's are around SSD prices too.
