Stardock sends along word that Galactic Civilizations II (http://www.galciv2.com/) has Gone Gold.

Stardock Software is excited to announce that the upcoming space-faring strategy game, Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords, has been released to manufacturing and will warp its way to retail outlets and the company’s TotalGaming.net digital-distribution service on February 21. Players can secure the limited-run Collector’s Edition — featuring a fold-out tech-tree poster, exclusive in-game ship components and more — by pre-ordering the game at TotalGaming.net and major retailers like Wal-Mart, EB Games and GameStop.

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is the highly anticipated sequel to the award-winning Galactic Civilizations that introduces a new 3D graphics engine, a choice of ten playable alien factions, extensive customization options and more ways to win. Players will lead their civilizations to galactic supremacy through technological prowess, diplomatic cunning, cultural influence or military might as they uncover the far reaches of the universe.

Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords carries a suggested retail price of $39.95. For more information, visit the official website at http://www.galciv2.com. (http://www.galciv2.com./)

I'm definitely picking this one up. After the MOO3 debacle I'm thirsting for a real successor to MOO2. From what I can tell GalCiv2 fits the bill. Anyone have anymore details on the Collector's Edition bonuses?

Anyone else find it odd that the same people who make programs like Windowsblinds and ObjectDock, also make games...?

Got my eye on this one. I fear if I buy it I won't give Civ up long enough to give it a chance.

While I digged GalCiv, it wasn't as good as MOO2. But I just read the gamespot preview... and I'm feeling a little bit hopefuly at this point.

Too bad I can't just buy the thing now and download it off their site - got to wait until it hits the stores, no doubt due to their distribution agreement. Which means I might as well just pick up a physical copy.
