We knew that we'd get some Dead Rising 2 information out of TGS... and here's a trailer (http://www.giantbomb.com/dead-rising-2-tgs-trailer/17-1425/)! Brought to us courtesy of the fine fellows of Giant Bomb. Give it a watch, and be enthralled, disgusted, and excited... and confused. It looks like it's all about the multiplayer and potentially, WWE Wrestling?

Uhh.. wtf?

I hope the multiplayer isn't some retarded "who can kill the most zombies in 5 minutes" rather than a co-op mode.

This is either the beginning of the game or something like what you'd see when watching TV in GTA IV.

Come on boys use your heads here...

They must use zombies for sport. Like romans used lions against gladiators.

The zombies must break out and infect everyone in the Stadium or something. Think about it...some stadiums nowadays are like malls. So there is fertile ground for food and clothing.

Why must i be so smart?

There's only one reason I didn't buy the first DR and only one reason I may not buy the 2nd one, and I hope someone from Capcom is listening:

If my weapons breaks every 10 kills, then forget it.

That was the single MOST annoying thing about the first one. And it's utterly ridiculous, like a samurai sword is going to snap that fast, or a baseball bat, etc. LEAVE THE WEAPONS ALONE. If I wanna go the whole game with a damn samurai sword LET ME. That is ALL I ASK. Yeah, I'll still try out other weapons, you don't have to force me.

That moosehead charge looked pretty fun. And it also looks like they've created some sort of weapon combining function, via the chainsaw on a stick and chainsaws on a motorbike--very cool.

And cheers to them for putting the setting in Las Vegas, thus using a backdrop that a film could never afford to do! About time! You always see zombie movies in malls, houses, and rural areas because they're spending so much on extras and makeup in the first place :P

Games have a natural advantage when it comes to setting, because imagination is the limit, now that hardware has caught up with our capacity for creative invention.

Well, in all honesty any samurai sword (or any sword for that matter) you might find in a mall will probably be a shitty replica that would break cutting into an unripe tomato. :p

You could find books in the bookstores that would extend the lives of many of the weapon types, some for a very long time.

I think you're way off base here. If they let you keep the same one weapon throughout the whole game it takes away so much from the game and it turns it into a mindless hack and slash.

Your weapon breaks for a reason:
You have to decide how many slots to allocate to certain weapons if you like them.
You have to save the power weapons for bosses.
You have to try a variety of weapons because you might lose your weapon in a pinch and need to use a...foam noodle to fight off zombies.
You have to venture out to potentially dangerous areas to get more weapons in which case you might run into new people to save or see crazy stuff.

There is no reason for them to change a formula that worked so well. The first Dead Rising was awesome. The only thing that got on my nerves was the time limit because i like to experience everything BUT they even made that work by being able to take your leveled up guy and play the whole thing over and over.

If DR2 is anything like DR1 it will be an amazing game.

While I did get that vibe from the trailer, that's not what really irked me.

DR1 had a simple elegance to it, partially fueled by nostalgia. The mall provided a wonderfully sterile, mundane environment for you to run for your life in. It made scenes like the rednecks with the truck-mounted machine gun that much more jarring. It's what made Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead so much better than Day or Land of the Dead; the environment presented in DR2 and the last two Romero movies are to far separated from what we experience in day-to-day life to have the same sort of impact.

While DR1 had it's simple elegance, DR2 appears to have blood, boobs, neon and chainsaws mounted to dirt bikes. When the humans end up getting more over-the-top than their undead "antagonists", things start to get silly.

Yeah, I get the hyperbole, but I'm going to disagree on the facts. It's completely possible to find a full tang steel sword in your average mall store. Even the crappy knockoffs would last far longer than the DR depiction.

I'm sorry Chimpbot, but did you say Dead Raising 1 had "simple elegance"? I don't think the phrase means what you think it means. It's about killing zombies with crazy and inane weapons all the while trying to save people. This is just going towards that same extreme. It is certainly not elegant what-so-ever.
