The FCC (https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/prod/oet/cf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=330610&fcc_id='BKEUSG-001) has a bunch of PDFs up of the Nintendo DS Lite. Photos are taken with rulers in the picture for scale. Internal shots of the machine gutted are also posted.

Thanks inotocracy (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1017128) of the [H]ardForums for this.

Looks pretty neat, all told...I like the inside shots, but then again, i'm obsessed with taking things apart.

Is this a prototype of some sort or a final production model?

If they sent it to the FCC it's probably final.

What is up with that ugly beige. I was set for getting this until I saw that horrible colour. And don't say it's the lighting, cause the white PSP looks white in all lighting conditions. This just looks like stale puke.

It's not a FINAL production model man. This is just the final working innards of the thing.

Why bother making the FCC testing model pretty?

Anyways, I'm glad to see a GBA cartridge port in those pictures. Can't wait to get mine!

Oh yeah, I'm getting one of those things ASAP. Stylus on the side? A little hatch for the GBA slot? Sweet.

I don't think the photo was color corrected. Look how strange the color on the power pack was -- everything has been shifted towards brown.

They gonna call that thing the iBOY? Wow what a stunning change, looks exactly the same, just smaller.

Just an fyi manufacturers never use final colored plastics during the design/mockup stages. Usually you get whatever color plastic is already loaded in the machinery at the time.

It's not beige, it's bisque! ;-)

One: it's subpar prototype plastic: why spend money on good shiny stuff when crappy stuff will do?
Two: the lighting is ass: why would the fcc waste time to try and put the thing in the best light possible? Just plop it on a table and measure it.

I'm glad they moved the power button. I wonder if I'm the only ass that hits the damn thing by accident.

Hehe. Definitely not. I hit it twice by accident when I was trying to carry the thing open (was waiting for something to happen in a game) while not touching the D-pad. I even had the thing turn off once when I had the DS closed and dropped it (bending over, shirt pocket, stupid).

I'll be getting the new one and will pass the old one to my mom, who will then pass hers down to my little nephew - he's not really a "player" yet but he likes to move Mario around. :)
