View Full Version : Nintendo Revolution Designs Leaked onto the Net

From the inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=29585):
It has pictures of the design process that Nintendo has been using to make its new console and effectively shows the direction the Revolution is taking - including changes to the handset.
For the screenshots click here (http://ga-forum.com/revback.html).
I read something very interesting that someone said in the forums where the screenshots are, he said:
Nintendo should start selling pre-orders for the Rev a month before launch on their website. But they should let you customize the color of the system (front led) and controllers (buttons too) anyway you like. That would be awesome. I can see people buying like 3 customs systems if that were possible.
That would be something very cool indeed.

those pics are very nice. It shows some great history of nintendo and some of the newer designs as well. Still not a fan of the new controller scheme.

Customizing the look of my console isn't the feature thats going to sell a system for me, but that does sound pretty nice that I can order one in whatever color I want.

Who cares? To paraphrase Stephen Colbert - "Revolution? You're dead to me."
Nintendo are so far behind in the race for the hearts and minds of the gaming masses that they could give away the Revolution and still not match the installed base of the Xbox 360.

I agree, fit...i will go back to playing shiny games that make me go WOW SHINY and not have the slightest bit of fun. Maybe a little bit. Ok, they're a lot of fun, but that controller makes me DROOL.

So...if the console isn't number 1, it's pointless? Gee, yeah, I guess all those fun games I played on my N64 and Gamecube must have been imaginary.

Revolution is going to hurt Sony pretty badly in Japan, it's going to be the DS all over again. It will be reasonably priced and will probably beat the X360 in worldwide sales.

I think you are wrong and that you will be shocked when the Revolution exceeds worldwide Xbox 360 sales after the first year. Nintendo is expanding what it means to be a gamer, taking it back to the days when your parents would play Atari, Coleco or Nintendo with you. In that sense, they are more in touch with what the masses want from gaming than Sony or Microsoft's narrow definition.
You know, people said the same things you're saying about Nintendo before the release of the DS; that Sony was going to steal the handheld throne from Nintendo since the gaming masses wanted a big screen, movies and music on their handhelds.
The problem is that the 'gaming masses' want GAMES, not multimedia centers and extranious features. The 'gaming masses' want titles that focus on fun, addicting gameplay, not shiny graphics and bluray playback. It is the non-gamers that are lured in by Tivo-like functionality and movie-playback.
Would you like to make a friendly wager about the worldwide installed base, 1 year after the Revolution launch? I guarantee you that there will be more Revolutions sold to consumers than Xbox 360s.

This is a pretty misleading post.
This is not really the Rev designs "leaking" to the net. It is more of a case of pictures from a publicly available book being "placed" on the net.
This is just pictures from a book that have been scanned in. It is no big secret leak.
Thousands of these have been sent to shareholders all over the world. If you want one then just buy a couple shares of nintendo. It is not hard.
It looks really cool though. Nintendo has great designers.

That is the thing about fitabits sarcasm. It is not overboard to the point of being obvious sarcasm. Sure, it is blatantly offensive, but no more so then anything that Evil, Achilles, or Pumped'Up would say, and honestly mean. In fact, that is pretty tame in comparision to what some of the real haters would say.

"Blatantly offensive"?
blatant - without any attempt at concealment; completely obvious
offensive - causing anger, displeasure, resentment, or affront
It was only a joke - no offense was meant. :(

I'm not offended. :-D
I wanted you to take me up on my bet though. I'm sitting here trying to think of what a good bet would be. Like, if the 360 has more units sold to consumers than the Revolution 1 year after the Revolution's launch, I'll have my photo taken, peeing on my Revolution controller.
Now, what would the 360 fan do if the Revolution sells more?

DS redesign?Nintendo comes out with a handheld revision every year and a half or so, so it was a given that the DS was going to get a new version. I wouldn’t really count that as a rumor. But as you can see the rumored facts around the new version (namely that it was going to launch on the 16th) have been proven false.
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/01/11/nintendo-ds-redesign-coming-jan-16th/
Nintendo shot down that rumor, saying “we don’t have anything to announce at this time” which they didn’t, but oddly everyone took that as news that they weren’t planning a redesign, sporting headlines like “Nintendo Denies Redesign”.

ok, those are some intresting pics, nothing that made me cream my pants. And I wonder if we will see multiple colors. Remember, both Sony and Nintendo showcased their handhelds in multiple colors at E3, but neither were avaliable at launch. And Sony still hasn't released the white or yellow PSPs they showed.

I guess you have done mountains of research too. Seems abit odd that for it being so far behind in the race for the hearts and minds of the gaming masses that you would take the time to read and post on a forum about Nintendo. Way to go T to the Roll bot. Truth of the matter is the entire industry is talking about the Revolution and its controller and the only people that have a negative thing to say about it is a bunch of people who think there the gaming elite because they wasted 500 American dollars on a machine that Microsoft recalled 1.5 million of cause they rushed it out the door in there hype campaign or a bunch of people dieing to spend 700 dollars for a machine thats gunna get crushed by the defective one and a little one with a crazy controller. Posts like that are just too much keep at it kid.
