Tired of waiting for Duke Nukem Forever? Head on over here (http://hrp.planetduke.gamespy.com/download.htm) and snag the Duke Nukem 3D Hi-Res Pack. What's it do? Adds hi resolution textures and models to the original Duke Nukem 3D.
It even works on the shareware version (ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/share/3dduke13.zip).
Sweet. Might be worth it to replay through D3D. Most likely it's still going to be a while till we see DNF.
I think it would be cool to challenge one of the FPS modding communities to race 3D Realms to see who can create and release DNF first... And then see which version is actually better, the modder's or 3D Realm's...

Let's not forget JonoF's JFDuke3d port. With it you get OpenGL support and 3d models! http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=jfduke3d
-edit: Ignore the above line. JFDuke3d comes with the high rez pack. I'm an idiot for not reading the link completely.-
Damn that game was fun. And I think it's worth noting that the only game since this to support shooting (rockets and pipebombs in Duke3d,) through teleporters/portals is Prey.
Here's hoping they keep that feature.

Wow, now it's really 3D!
Is this midget tank (http://hrp.planetduke.gamespy.com/screens/hrp_screen12.jpg) a new enemy? Never seen it before.

I believe it was a pig in the tank, an enemy from the expansion, Atomic something, or somesuch.

i remember finding the original too boring to finish, so not interested in picking it up again. but i congratulate the guy for the obvious amount of time and effort it took to pursue this.

Someone was already working on a Half Life 2 total conversion of Duke Nukem 3D. 3DRealms put a stop to it.

I thought the deathmatch for Duke was one of the best aside from the orginal Doom and Quake. I wonder if anyone plays Duke deathmatch on the net?

Yeah the duke community still thrives to this day, you can even play online with people. Same with the first two doom games.
About this newpost, i cannot wait for the download to finish, ive been replaying duke3d lately with some mods but this looks like it would be really fun.

I thought D3D sucked when it was originally released and I don't think that giving a steaming pile of crap a new paint job and a cardboard airpurifier will make me want to cuddle with it.

Have a link to that? Duke Nukem on HL2 engine would have been badass. :(
