TeamXbox (http://ww.teamxbox.com/) has posted word (http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/10203/DOOM-3-Xbox-Demo-Featured-in-DOOM-Movie-DVD/) that an Xbox demo of Doom 3 has been included in the release of the DOOM movie on DVD.
id Software and Activision have teamed with Universal Studios Home Entertainment to include a playable demo of DOOM 3 for Xbox video game and entertainment system from Microsoft as bonus content on the Unrated Extended Edition DVD release of Doom. The DOOM 3 demo includes two single-player and two multi-player levels, featuring both Co-Op and Deathmatch Xbox Live® online game service enabled modes.
I caught the movie while it was in the theaters and I found it entertaining. Granted I did go in with low expectations and ended up being pleasantly surprised.

I'm skipping off to Best Buy straight after work and will be picking this up, if only for the Doomo (Doom demo).

Isn't this like when people bought "Zone of Enders" for the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo inside?

No this is more like someone buying House of the Dead hoping it came with the game too.

I could say the same thing about alone in the dark.
Well... I didnt find it entertaining at all.. infact I stopped watching after about 20 mins, but it was no where near as bad as people make out. Infact I'm annoyed its not, I spent ages downloading it and was hoping for the most craptastic movie ever but instead I ended up with a blaaa B grade action movie.
I'm completley off topic.
Oh if you want to see something REALLY bad, download Day of the Dead 2

Are you kidding
RENT Alone in the dark! RENT DAy of the Dead 2, Yes I pirate stuff sometimes, but I rent or buy almost everything else. Infact the only things I've priated in the last year is alone in the dark, day of the dead 2, and battlestar galactica (which I also went and bought on dvd) And I own a bazillion games and movies, you dont need to worry about me bringing the entertainment industry to its knees :P
But I wouldnt recommend spending money renting out alone in the dark or day of the dead 2. Download them, but dont use your own internet connection. Go around to a freind's house and waste their bandwidth

OK. I'm dense. But is the thought process on the Xbox demo that:
A) a Doom and/or Doom movie fan BUYS the movie and doesn't already have the game...and B) outta chance they have an Xbox and C) they pop the demo in and love it so much they run out and D) buy the game.
Yeah, that's sound logic.

TeamXbox is a little slow (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom3/news.html?sid=6140668) on the uptake here.

For the same price, you could have the FULL xbox game (Doom 3 xbox is on sale at best buy for $16.99 (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6660124&type=product&id=1083537379971) this week)

I actually picked up Doom on Xbox for $10 in the recent Toyr-R-Us sale - my post was meant to be taken as sarcasm.
I do appreciate the link, though.
I bought Doom III CE for 9.99 on sale about 3 weeks ago. I think that was a good deal. Not to take away from the demo. It could lead to something in the future of having multi-pack game and movie packaged together or a game demo with a dvd that release close together. It would be kind of cool to have the movie and the game on the same disk. Well.. kinda cool. I guess it would suck if you ever wanted to trade one or the other.

The Doom movie was beyond horrible. It was like a Uwe Boll movie, except boring. Uwe can at least keep his terrible movies interesting.

Indeed, it is interesting as much as putting fire ants into your pants interesting, and seeing how long you can go before you kill yourself by sticking your own fingers into your chest and trying to rip your heart out.

My kind of movie then! I'm torn here... Here's an idea, maybe I'll practice what preached earlier and rent the damn thing.

Coming in late, I'm sure, but I'll add my $.02 anyway.
The Doom movie wasn't bad in the sense that it was one of the few "not a complete disaster" video game movies. I think I can put it in this elite tier along with the original Mortal Kombat and ... gee, that's about it. Doom joins the pedigree shared by one of the few Paul Anderson flicks that hasn't sucked ass. Not exactly great, but it's a step in the right direction.
As for other game-to-movie translations? They've all been terrible. Aside from the obvious steamers, like House of the Dead and Super Mario, even the more successful adaptations have been lousy. Seriously, Tomb Raider and both RE films have really sucked. Think about it. Think about them compared to their source material, and then compare the movie to similar films in that genre. They all come up far too short to be considered good adaptations, let alone good movies. It's not a credit to the RE movie when there's better acting and more scariness in the game than what's been seen on screen. The pick-and-choose attitude toward the game's established continuity has made the whole thing a sloppy train wreck, mutating the admittedly campy B-grade zombie story of the original PSX RE trilogy into a really boring D-grade shitfest. I won't even go into the original, but seriously, go play RE2 and then go watch the RE2 movie. How could they fuck up such a sure thing? I don't know, but they managed to do it with gusto.
All of that said, Doom did a lot of things right. It got the atmosphere down pretty good: the squad of marines was interesting in that you didn't know who was going to die (well, you knew The Rock and Eomer would live), and the pacing was well-done. The build-up to the BFG was nice (would have liked to see it used a bit more, but ...), and the final battle was interestingly par for the action-movie course. And for once there seems to be a decent budget for the special effects and the hiring of competent actors. I didn't like the gutting of virtually all the Hell stuff, and I would liked some kind of boss battle re-created, but that'll be for the (inevitable?) sequel.
*EDIT* So bottom line: the Doom movie wasn't good. But it wasn't terrible. And that's a step in the right direction.

I LOVED the sewers on Mars! It was entirely appropriate for the Mars project to take, brick for brick a New York sewer and put it underneath the high-security block.
GENIUS!

A demo for the Xbox??? What's the freakn point - they should have included the full game!!!!
Otherwise, a D3 demo for the 360 would have been a worthwhile DVD purchase even for those who don't like the movie!!!

Its funny how they didn't want to take the actually Doom plot, demons from hell, and instead recycled the zombie franchise again by making the creatures a virus. I thought I was watching another Resident Evil movie.

I don't know Fitbabits. I didn't hate it. It wasn't great, no, and it had tons of missed opportunities. However, I found myself enjoying it for what it was: a goofy action ride. In essence, just like the game.
So, I guess you might want to grab it as a rental, but it wouldn't be an awful purchase where DVD is concerned.

Doom was awful. I wanted to see people blasting the shit out of everything, going to hell and kicking demons in the face. Not some bullshit genetic engineering bollocks. Though I thought the FPS sequence, whilst being completely self indulgent, was awesome.

AvP made me cry
"Ridley Scott and I talked about doing another ALIEN film and I said to 20th Century Fox that I would develop a 5th ALIEN film. I started working on a story, I was working with another writer and Fox came back to me and said, "We've got this really good script for ALIEN VS PREDATOR and I got pretty upset. I said, "You do that you're going to kill the validity of the franchise in my mind." Because to me, that was FRANKENSTEIN MEETS WEREWOLF. It was Universal just taking their assets and starting to play them off against each other...
Milking it. So, I stopped work."
- James Cameron
This makes me cry even more. Ridley Scott and Cameron?! That would have ruled the cosmos and thrown the universe off its balance due to its sheer awesomeness :( :(

This could possibly explain why your screen is a mess, sticky and just generally disgusting. Hasn't anyone told you that you can't fornicate with posts (of any variety, really)?

I went in expecting Kill Bill and instead I almost killed myself before the ending credits. I wondered if they even knew what a BFG really IS.

I JUST finished watching the movie (stupid mom and pop video store with their stupid full screen version of the movie  ), and I have to say...I was bored.
I watched it in the dark...in full surround sound...and...nothing!!!!!!!!!! I almost feel asleep more than a couple of times.
The FPS sequence was neat, but had almost no point. It would have been cooler had it been littered throughout the movie instead of one point.
And yes...the total lack of hell in this movie bothered me.
Doom 3 was freaking scary (although not worth a second time through)...I just looked at that movie and said...it could have been SO much more.

I was also pleasantly surprised by the Doom movie. I liked it more than Doom 3.
I already did my time on the game, it’s done and I’m not going back. Even if it was a 360 demo.
I’ve also got to say that the line between Doom and Quake is incredibly thin, and the movie crossed it. Doom has cyber zombies from hell. Quake has cyber zombie aliens. They were aliens in the movie, not hell spawn- it was a Quake movie, not a Doom movie.

Not sure about the American release, but the Japanese release of Stealth on UMD came with a demo of Wipeout Pure and downloadable content with new tracks and the plane from Stealth as a new vehcle.
I though that was a neat idea.

The fact that I use an Xbox as my DVD player prevented me from watching the damn movie on it because it forces you into the demo. When I finally got another DVD player to watch the movie, I wished I hadn't. It managed to be worse than AvP. Seriously, fuck Doom, and fuck the unrated DVD for adding another 12 minutes of people running around for no reason.

The thing about DOOM was that it was not so much that it was a bad movie as much as it wasnt really DOOM at all. It was an orgy of ideas taken and badly mixed together from movies like resident evil, blade 2, and 28 days later.
it wasnt a horrible movie on its own, but it def was not a doom movie.
