Codemasters sends along word that they have released four new movies for the upcoming Sci Fi MMORPG, RF Online (http://www.rf-onlinegame.com/).

Codemasters has released a walkthrough movie and three Character movies for RF Online. The walkthrough movie takes gamers deep into the space galaxy of Novus, providing a detailed demo of the game in action. The character movies give gamers a glimpse into each of RF Online’s factions - Accretia, Bellato and Cora.

RF Online (Rising Force Online) delivers a supremely rich gaming experience that has already attracted more than 1 million players in the Far East since its launch last year. With stunning in-game visuals and jaw-dropping character and environment detail, RF Online is an incredible next generation MMO game. It features a unique blend of magical fantasy mixed with futuristic science-fiction action and sees players engaging in the most epic battles ever seen in a MMO role-playing game.

RF Online is set to launch in late February 2006 and will be published and operated in the U.S. and Europe by Codemasters Online Gaming. For all the latest on the game, including the latest images, movies and to sign up for the Beta Test, visit www.rf-onlinegame.com. (http://www.rf-onlinegame.com./)

Yep, I was very hopefull about this game, but it seems codemasters is just focused on loosley translating it to english. I was hopping the would tweak the game a bit for the europe/american audience (not everyone enjoys the grind that a chinese gold farmer would enjoy).

So this gets a big pass from me, looking like the only hope on the horizon is Vangaurd, or even further off Fantasy-Earth.

Not really sure, but one would hope it wouldn't be necessary on an MMORPG. You pay a monthly fee which ties a particular CD key to you. Isn't using Star Force to prevent people from copying the game (and.. Not having a unique code to create an account with) a bit of overkill?

Regardless, down with the DRM rootkit mumbo jumbo and all that snish snosh.

I wouldn't think they would be stupid enough to use starforce. I mean people are downloading the full game client in its "beta" form from fileplanet right now.

Agreed. I played the beta, it is terrible. Just another boring level grind. You character move slower than a snail, amazingly terrible text (even if you ignore the engrish).

Bah, boring game.

I need a sci-fi MMORPG. Universe of Starcraft: Now with more Zerg!

I would play Terran.

I joined the japanese beta. Didn't enjoy it much but it might have been a language barrier thing...

I would be Terran as well, just a standard issue marine. I love machine guns!

This is identical to Lineage 2, only it looks better.

"So this gets a big pass from me, looking like the only hope on the horizon is Vangaurd, or even further off Fantasy-Earth."

If you are expecting Vanguard to be free of absolutely hellish level grinds you are in for the rudest of awakenings.

Its early as hell, but I cannot find the movie that is a walkthrough.

"Codemasters has released a walkthrough movie and three Character movies for RF Online. The walkthrough movie takes gamers deep into the space galaxy of Novus, providing a detailed demo of the game in action."

Where on earth is it on the site?

I gave this a try, but it didn't hold my attention for more than 10 min. The translations were very sloppy, the tutorial was so boring that it was more exciting to figure it out myself, the character models (within a class) all looked the same, the animations felt dated, and the movement was incredibly slow. Not a great formula for a level grinder...

Dammit!

The chicks are hot. Those bastards.

What we need:

Offensively hot chicks in an anime-influenced MMO

Fun gameplay in said MMO

The End.

True... what should we call it? Oh yeah I know... WORLD OF WARCRAFT.

heheh... ok ok maybe not anime exactly, but not too far off either -- have you seen the size of those gnomes' eyes? My NE wears incredibly short skirts too.
