Hey, looking for the Bioshock sequel? Nah, it's not coming out this year, it was delayed to 2010... but now we've got an official release date for it. You'll be able to step back into Rapture on February 9th, 2010 no matter what territory you're in.
2K Games announced today that BioShock® 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, will be available worldwide beginning February 9, 2010. The game is now available for pre-order at participating retailers.
Currently in development for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows® LIVE, BioShock 2 will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action.
Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.
Don't forget, it has multiplayer too! Yay?

Never got into the first one. Just didn't find it interesting. The whole setting and graphics were awesome, but it just didn't capture me.

I really loved the first game, but this one has me worried. They just signed on Arkane Studios to help (they do good work), but this makes the 4th studio to be working on this game... that is an awful lot of people to be on a project. I really hope it works out, and that somehow it is a cohesive play experience like the one Ken Levine pulled together for the first one. I guess we will find out early next year.

The plot of the sequel sounds absolutely awful. I can't get past that.

Yeah, I'm with you there... Someone has been kidnapping girls and bringing them back? Really?
Little Sisters are genetically modified girls who were trained to produce and process ADAM. Their bodies were induced by Sea Slugs which give them virtual immortality. Despite even that, they are quite defenseless against any greedy Splicer. That’s why they need Big Daddies to watch over them. These powerful bodyguards live and breathe only to ensure that Little Sisters are safe.
They couldn't find another way to harvest ADAM?

I loved the first one, and though I am really looking forward to the sequel, I must face the facts that there is absolutely no way it will be as good as the first. Should lower my expectations to expecting just a great game instead of one of my all time favorites.

I didn´t get into the first one when it came out, but I started playing it again a couple of weeks ago and I´m really enjoying it. I´ll definately be getting the second one, hope it comes out for ¨Games on Demand¨.

While disappointed by another pushback, I'm am grateful though that its at least got about a month between it and mass effect 2. If we're lucky Starcraft 2 will see another pushback.

I have tried playing the games many times, each time getting a little further, but I lose interest quickly. I want to like it, but I really don't. Atleast that's one less game for me to buy.

What exactly does a game need to do to "capture" you?
Christ man, it had a fucking excellent story, wonderful graphics, spot on control and pure awesome gameplay. I'm not even mentioning the "awesome setting", as you put it.
If you can't get into Bioshock, your may want to check your gaming pulse.

Relax dude. Just because I didn't get into it, doesn't mean I don't have a gaming pulse.
I play LOTS of games. The last couple of months I've played Barman: AA, Modern Warfare, Left 4 Dead, Call of Juarez, Fallout 3, Civilization IV, Titan Quest, Rainbow Six Vegas 1/2, RE 5, Ratchet and Clank, Pure, Half-Life 2 series, Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Sports Resort. And I'm sure I'm forgetting some games.
I don't know what it was about Bioshock, but it didn't hold my interest.
