Playtechtonics sends along word that they have updated their indie MMSAG (massively multiplayer space action game), Starport Galactic Empires (http://www.starportgame.com/).

Playtechtonics is proud to announce that Starport Galactic Empires, www.starportgame.com (http://www.starportgame.com/), has received a major update. The update to this independent massive multiplayer space action game includes tutorials, missions, new galaxy maps, and more. Starport Galactic Empires offers their game as a completely free download from the SGE website.

As captain of your own ship the path to victory is as open as the space around you. Trade, fight, and found planet bases to generate enough power and wealth to control the galaxy. Arm and outfit your ship with cargo holds, weapons, and shields of various types and strengths and remember, the greater the risk, the greater the reward.

Starport Galactic Empires is a unique action combat and empire building hybrid. Growth of players is controlled by warp fuel. Each server in the game has a set amount of fuel growth per minute. When a player is logged out they accrue fuel and can spend it as needed when they return. This unique design ensures that a casual player can still compete on a galactic level.

Join the vibrant community at www.starportgame.com (http://www.starportgame.com/) and see what it takes to conquer the galaxy. Starport Galactic Empires is a free download, so come see what’s new on the galactic level.

Funny. I clicked on the banner yesterday and took a gander at yonder website. I immediately thought.. "Hey this is like Tradewars!" and today when I go to install, I find it's updated.

Good omen? ;)

I thought it played alot like star controll 2 wich is a good thing. The bad thing was after flying to 6 different planets wasting fuel I still could not find one without any players there hogging the resources and screming at me to go away.
