According to a posting (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=31764&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0) on Worthplaying (http://www.worthplaying.com/), Lionhead Studios has issued a statement that the console adaptations of The Movies have not been cancelled.

"We at Lionhead Studios are dedicated to the game and will continue to support it. We did not cancel The Movies for consoles and as far as we are concerned the project is far from dead." This probably means another company will take over the publishing duties
Excellent news.

Unless they change the game mechanics I couldnt imagine playing this on a console. Things would take too long in most cases. Also I would assume a lot of the features would be missing? I didnt play much of it but voice overs and things like that. Also lack of a hard drive = no movies?

It would work just fine on the Xbox or Xbox 360.

I just hope they make the mechanics play well on the 360 (or whatever) as opposed to dumbing it down for the "simple" console market/consumer.
