Looks (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/strategy/kingdomunderfireheroes/show_msgs.html?topic_id=25255340) like the new Kingdom Under Fire : Circle of Doom will come to the XBox 360 in the near future.
“The first two Kingdom Under Fire series were about the cross-over between action and real-time strategy challenging gamers to combine the skills of both hand and mind,” said Henry Lee, Game Director of Blueside. “With this latest installment of the Kingdom Under Fire franchise for Xbox 360, we’re planning to deliver the most overwhelming action role-playing game experience you just have to play it for yourself to believe.”
I like KuF... lets hope the 360 version stays just as good.

OOOOh, yeah, this is good news. I go on about it a lot, but the KUF series was one of my favourites. I would also like to play them on my 360 though. Hopefully 99nights will tide me over.

Funny, I thought 99 Nights was just KUF with a different name... :)

i just got KUF: Heroes, could someone please describe why i should like it? don't get me wrong, i don't hate it, but i can't really see where the fun is. i love fighting games, and i love RTS games, but this is somewhere between the two and seems to only manage 'frustrating.'

It took me a while, but I really grew to love the first KuF game on the Xbox - even the hammy voice work. The first few skirmishes are nothing compared to the latter stages.
I haven't got round to the sequel yet, but I know I will.

I love the art style and story of KuF, as well as upgrading the troops and buying new equipment, but the gameplay is almost intolerable at times.
Please add frequent checkpoints to the missions, especially missions that are 2 hours long which currently have no checkpoints. Improve the camera so it doesn’t get stuck or obstructed as much while running around, and follows the character better in combat. And avoid unintuitive missions, like having to ‘escape down a road’ by running all the way around the map in a square twice, or having your entire army killed by a whirlwind almost instantly at the end of an hour long mission.

Ah, how often one forgets the frustrations of games... :o

Ah, how often one forgets the frustrations of games... :oIt really says something about the game that I still like it even though it's one of the most infuriating games I've ever played. And in fact I couldn't stop playing it for a while because I wanted to see where the story went. If they fixed their gameplay problems I'm sure this franchise would really take off, but right now they're stuck in the niche of people willing to forgive ridiculously frustrating gameplay.

I completely agree. The first KuF for Xbox is one of those games that I'll pick up from time-to-time and have a blast with it. Until I hit a frustrating stopping point and feel like throwing it in the damn trashcan. Then, after a while, I'll pick it right back up again and find what frustrated me before is now something I'm not too bothered about and sometimes even (gulp) appreciate.
There's a gap in the market for a series like KuF to do really well on Xbox 360 if, as you said, they can iron out the problems of the past.

hm, see, i don't like the story or the art style, so maybe that's why i don't like it. there's not much to redeem it from there, by the sounds of it.
so, i'm assuming no-one else got slightly morally offended by thier use of the word 'darkies' and by the continual references to the 'one true god' destroying the 'filthy heathen' and - most disturbingly - the chanting of 'kill the pagans, kill the pagans, yes, kill the pagans!' and that i'm just overly sensitive.

The “darkies” actually had their own story, and the side that called them that was also the side that would slaughter an entire village of their own innocent people, so yeah. The most interesting thing about the game is that there wasn't really a good guys side, there were good characters, evil characters, and completely misguided characters, but all the sides had their dark aspects.
After playing through Ellen's campaign and seeing what she had to do to herself to live in Human society, well that's pretty messed up. And the other human campaign was over the top. (Speaking of KuF:Heroes here) The Dark Elves were sold out by their leaders to the vampires. Wouldn't say I've ever been offended by the game though, it just seems realistic for that sort of era.

This was one thing I really liked about the game. They weren't afraid to cast everyone in a harsh light and show no one side as "good". There was hatred and mistrust everywhere and it fit in well with the themes of religious zealotry, war and politics.
As a game itself, it's incredibly unforgiving and infuriating at some points (that 3rd level for ellen on Heores had me driven up the wall), but once you beef up your character and flesh out your army, it really comes into its own. I think it did a really good job of making you feel like a hero when you finally got into battle and had to do the dirty work yourself. Others like it (that hacky-slashy one I can never rmember that sold a zillion units) just felt like most of the enemies, and even your own troops were inconsequential.
I'm interested to see how this new direction will go though.. 4 player dungeon crawling in the KUF world could be the new Gauntlet.

that's where i am :( :(Is that the one with the lava caves? I wanted to strangle the developers while going through that one. Took me 10 hours I think to figure out how not to die at the end of it. What I did was, instead of just getting ripped up by the whirlwind at the end of the level, order all your guys to retreat out of combat with the melee units toward the entrance (the idea that you can retreat toward your objective is a little strange), when they're out of combat order them to engage the command unit that's casting the whirlwind spell, and all the while shoot it with arrows. It's best to use the tactical map for this which I think is accessed by holding down one of the triggers.

don't think i'm gonna give them the satisfaction of putting in the time to try and get to like it. it's going back to game. i got jade empire and fable to keep me occupied which don't involve developers who actually want to make your life hell ;)
