Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/5359628/official-xbox-360-80211n-wi+fi-adapter-coming-soon) has word that Microsoft is readying a new wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 which will allow you to link up with your 802.11n wireless network at home. No price yet, but considering the current adapter hasn't dropped in price ever, you can expect this one to be at least that expensive.

If you want to stream 1080p TV shows and movies from the Zune/video store this fall, your 360 needs to be hard wired to your router, or on an 802.11n network. Knowing this, Microsoft is readying an official 802.11n adapter.

Damn, I just bought the 802.11G adapter 2 months ago. I'd be willing to bet that MSFT introduces the 802.11N adapter at the $100 price point and drops the price on the 802.11G adapter (like they did when they announced the 120GB HDD). They receive too much flak over the price of their WiFi as it is. It'd be a PR nightmare if they put out an even more expensive one.

I have been using a Linksys WGA600N gaming adapter for about six months. Works great and does make for a wide Wifi connect.
~ $70

This is why I have a switch and a wifi bridge in my entertainment center.
One device to update and compatible with anything that has an ethernet port.

Device-specific wifi for stationary devices is a crock.

They need to just make an update for the 360 to work with any wireless device that can be used on xp, vista, etc.

I've been using a 100 foot ethernet cable awkwardly wired down the hall and behind the sofa because i'm not paying $100 for a fucking $10 wifi adapter.

My Wii, which is right next to my 360, is using its built in WiFi.

Microsofts excuse for not including a wireless adapter in with the system was that they didn't want "users to be stuck with outmoded technology" and wanted flexibility in that department.

give us a standard 802.11g and let the suckers buy the 802.11n .

QFT. I ran my cable down through the floor, across the ceiling in the basement, and up behind the entertainment system. Not necessarily an elegant solution, but I'll be damned if I have to pay that kind of cash for wireless.

My Wii is 10 ft from my router and I'm lucky if I can stay connected 5 minutes straight. I spent $20 for an adaptor to put my Wii on the wired network where all consoles belong!

Yeah, when I set up my network... I just put my router next to my TV and put a 5 dollar wireless card in my computer. Done and done.

Funny, as my Wii is a good 100 feet away from my router and i never have a problem keeping it connected. Hell, i was playing 6 player online guitar hero for hours a few days ago.
