From the extremely skeptical department comes this rumor page (http://www.xbox360news.com/Blogs/News/hqs/blr_1790.aspx) on XBox360News.com (http://www.xbox360news.com):
Rumor 4: There will be over 50 Sega Dreamcast games on the Xbox Live Arcade within 2 years, launched a handfull at a time. Every Dreamcast game released on 360 will be priced at around 10 dollars.
While most definitely a rumor, it would be a pretty awesome feat to have some of these DC classics up available.

(If true) Does this mean the Xbox live manager will admit that nintendo has a good idea by providing retro console games for download?

The DC version of Shenmue still looks better than most adventure / roleplaying games released today. Fuck, the DC looked better than all released PS2 games.

Panzer Dragoon Saga! All others pale in comparison.
I want to be able to play Ooga Booga online again desperately. I loved that game. The 4 player deathmatch was charming and the 2v2 boar polo was an awesome experience.
It would also be kind of cool to play chu chu rocket with no lag, alien front online again(heh I remember how cool the voice chat seemed for the time though the game wasn't stellar), and I never broke down and bought outrigger.
I was/am a huge fucking dreamcast fan and just to be able to play some of the games online again would be awesome(ooga booga never had more than like 10 people online at a time, same thing with chu chu rocket after a year). Not to mention my dreamcast died and I'm hesistant to spend $55 to have sega repair it.

The issue would be MS' 50MB limit on Live Arcade games, to keep them accessible to those with Cores. I'm sure they could make an exception in this case, though.
As for Chu Chu, my guess is Sonic Team will just make a native Live Arcade version of that, complete with Live play and the ability to upload your own puzzles.
Power Stone!
That would be an excellent Live Arcade title.
Panzer Dragoon Saga! All others pale in comparison.
That was Saturn, not DC. I still have mine. :D
I would love to see a lot of the multi-player DC games make it to Live Arcade. I'm not so sure I want a lot of single player games though. I mean... ..so far part of the Live Arcade experience is playing with others.
Oh, and a no brainier would be Phantasy Star Online. They could probably make some extra cash if they do not charge a monthly fee but release content packs through live too.

Seems like a terrific idea to me; if they can manage to get a comprehensive emulator working, then it definitely has the potential to provide a big return (and a big expansion of the software base).
People might be surprised to see how good Dreamcast games can look. I've got mine hooked to the HDTV through VGA, and the overall quality tends to equal (and sometimes top) the PS2. Render at 720p, add some "free" texture filtering and antialiasing, and you've got a winner.
Granted, this probably falls into the category of "wouldn't it be a great idea if..." rather than a real project. If I were Sega and Microsoft, though, I'd be completely behind it.

Everything listed would be pretty fucking cool the only problem I have is the fact I saw this about a weak ago:
I orginally posted this at xbox.com, but it was deleted.
Enjoy.
Talked to my old college roomate. I haven't talked to him in 7
years until he got my number from a mutal friend and gave me a call to
invite me to his wedding. Turns out he has been working at MS for
the last 3 years in (and here's the kicker) the gaming division.
Of course the first thing I asked is, What can you get me for
free? Well he said he'd work on that, but thats not the
great news. He told me some intresting stuff. Only
thing he said was you didn't hear this from me. So to me thats a
difference between don't say anything and don't use his name.
Anyway hear is what I was told.
1. Sometime around november 2006, MS is launching a complete
media service on the marketplace. This will range from 99 cent
songs, to 3.99 streaming movies. (just said the prices, you do
your own math to convert them to points).
2. AT next E3, MS will announce a parternship with Blizzard that
will bring World of Warcraft exclusively to 360. The deal is
done, and Blizzard is working on porting the game and a console
controll scheme. This game will also include a unannounced
expansion that the PC gamers will have to wait about a month to get
after we get this game. The other news, I don't know if this is
good or Bad to you guys, but only 360 gamers will be on specific 360
servers, he said this was because the game will include voice chat, and
it wouldn't work with PC gamers, unfair advantage yada yada....
3. Wasn't sure on a exact date, but said Halo 3 will be out before X'mas 2006. Exact words were Quarter 4 of 2006.
And the best for last at least to me.
There will be over 50 Sega dremcast games on the xbox live arcade
within 2 years. Launched a handfull at a time, he said the first
game will be Bonks adverture, which should be out in September
2006. Every dreamcast game released on 360 will be priced
at around 10 dollars. or however many points that is.
Now believe me, don't believe me, I don't really care. I thought
it would be nice to let you guys know what I had heard. I'm
pretty active on these boards and I have never came up with any ****
eyed conspiracy insider information threads before. Fact is I
wouldn't do anyting like this unless what I was told was true and from
a person I trust. So before you flame me with the usual smart a**
posts of I heard from my cousins, sisters, brothers, boyfriend
that........ All I ask is that you get on your knees and beg
forgiveness when this is confirmed later. Or at least say sorry.
The opening and closing statements are what makes me leary of these rumors although every single one is very possible. I also remember reading somewhere (possibly here) that sega signed on with Nintendo to release a bunch of Genesis games over their service on the Revolution so who knows.

Damn, WoW on a 360? i wonder how blizzard would handle that conversion, but anyways, if this is true, consider the console war over at least on the west, with WoW as an exclusive + voice chat.

Almost everyone who wanted to play WoW has played it already, as it doesn't take that much to be able to play it. It might affect sales, but it won't be another Halo, sales-wise.

Everyone with a PC. You'r forgeting about all those gamers without a PC or with a lower end system not able to run WoW. There are also people who are not into MMO's on the PC but would be willing to try it on a console.(don't ask me why) I know a few people who can afford a console and $15 a month but not a $1500 PC and $15 a month. So I think their are going to be plenty of people willing to play WoW on the 360.

I would hate voice chat in wow. While I like using TS when needed in a raid or for BG's it would suck as the only communication. I shiver at the thought of Barrens general chat. OMG and Iron Forge trade chat.

The DC didn't "run" on WinCE per se... MS offered Windows CE as a development platform for the Dreamcast, but the only game to use it was a PC port of Sega Rally 2 IIRC... and it ran poorly. Most developers chose to use the native Dreamcast OS instead.
Today many homebrewers use Windows CE to develop for the Dreamcast, but as for actual, licensed games, I'm pretty sure Sega Rally 2 was it.

Okay, I would love to have some old Dreamcast stuff up and running -- but I'd be even more excited to play the Genesis version of Flashback. As a Nintendo fan from way back when, I never had a Genesis -- and I certainly wouldn't mind catching up on some of the stuff I played at my friend Alex's house (a Sega guy -- that should give everyone hope for the middle east if a Nintendo fan and a Sega fan could be friends in 1993). I think the Live Arcade (although, frankly, the games they've got on there so far suck -- Joust and Gauntlet? I was never a big fan. Let's see some Ms PacMan and Tempest) and the Nintendo Virtual Console have a ton of potential. Late 2006 and 2007 could be very good years for videogames.
Now, if I could just get some DS copies of Sam & Max Hit the Road and the Monkey Island series ...

You speak the truth my friend, I much preferred the visual style of much of the DC games vs PS2, Rathet and Clank and the Sly Cooper games, maybe being the exception. I not quite sure what the deal is with PS2, it just looks odd, even God of War and Shadow of the Colussus is hard sometimes it looks great and others well not so good. And Shenmue 1 on DC was an awesome experience I really digged it.
But overall if they truly have DC games over Xbox live I think it is a good deal all round, hell if the 360 can emulate Xbox it can definetly emulate the good ol' DC.

dotbomb, I mean, isn't releasing Gauntlet and Joust an admission that releasing some old games is a good idea? I don't want to get into an argument that was already played out several times in the original thread, but I took him to mean that *only* releasing old games, not all of which hold up today, is perhaps not a good thing. Maybe I'm just reading what I think into his statements, but that seems like a reasonable point to me.

Rumors are retard food, with MSG and all.

I'd kill to have Skies of Arcadia, Soul Calibur and Rayman 2, but there's no way that would happen. I'd have to imagine that if this rumor were true - and I can't imagine that it is, although the Peter Moore connection is certainly tantalizing - it would probably only apply to first-party Sega games.
So... Crazy Taxi? I'd love me some Virtua Tennis, too, but Top Spin 2 makes it somewhat irrelevant.

I'll just back you up on that one and drop a little knowledge, just for fun. My original Senior Design project back around 2000 was to make a dreamcast game (which fell through for many reasons... no compiler being the first), so I learned a bit about that little box.
True, the WindowsCE sticker was on the front of the box, but it wasn't loaded natively into the box as firmware or anything. The actual WinCE (v2.12) image would be stored on the CD and loaded by a bootstrap, if present. Otherwise, you were looking at a straight SH4 (or SH3?) chip, PowerVR chip and a whole lot of C, C++ and assembly. Far as I know, yeah, only one game ever was built on the WinCE architecture, although I thought it was some Samurai game. It was one hell of a collaboration that never went anywhere. Kind of a shame, really.
And, by the way, Virtua(l) Tennis rules still.
The issue would be MS' 50MB limit on Live Arcade games, to keep them accessible to those with Cores. I'm sure they could make an exception in this case, though.

while i can't tell you how many dreamcast games ran on Windows CE, i can say without a doubt it was more than just one. in fact, a quick glance at my collection reveals i definatly have 2 games that run on Windows CE (sega rally and next tetris) because they have a "powered by Windows CE" logo on the back.
some games i suspect might use Windows CE don't have the logo (PC ports like revolt, virtua cop 2, and resident evil).

not gonna be a very cheap way to do this
each dc game varies from about 100mb to 1.2 gigs in size. thatll fill up your 13gb usable too quickly for my taste.
better yet, go out to ebay and buy an orphaned dc and games.. itll be cheaper.
hell most of the games used are less than 10$ (even new ones stranded in a junk bin at toys r us n stuff)
thankfully i save all the games and consoles.. ive got a nice historical timeline goin on.

While I wouldn't shill out money for a DC download (unless it was online Powerstone 2 or Bangio-O, I can't find a copy of that game), a Saturn download I'd consider. The Saturn titles I want to play (Dragon Force, Shining Force III, Radiant Silvergun, Panzer Dragoon Saga) are the big classics I missed out on, plus they fetch for about $100 dollars on online auctions. So I'd pay $10 or even $20 to play those gems.
