This issue gets the series into gear with the explosive death of AJ that mirrors the same corpse Henry stumbled upon just an hour before. In the aftermath of AJ’s death, Henry discovers a mysterious locked Egyptian scarab box ornamented by a Nazi swastika that AJ’s been carrying around. The plot also thickens with the discovery that Orcan originally developed Draxx as a synthetic narcotic and the results of it affecting roaches were a coincidence. In the meantime, Henry’s girlfriend, Laura who works for Orcan, is getting promoted and deeper into the company that prides itself of being able to turn any situation into something profitable.
Simon Oliver has not only successfully build upon a solid first issue but has started an excellent intertwined storyline that will hook the audience. The characterizations and dialogue is excellent as is the pacing of the issue. The artwork created by Tony Moore matches the script’s need for excellent facial expressions as well as the detail for the gory and suspenseful scenes.
Bottom Line:
If you’ve enjoyed The Walking Dead or the Y: The Last Man then this issue and series should interest you. If you’re unfamiliar with those titles, this series could be described so far as a cross between the X-Files and Clerks. The initial issue didn’t sell me on the series but after this second issue, I’ve been sold lock, stock and barrel. This is a title I will add to my pull list and look forward to.

Hellboy:Makoma #1 of 2
Publisher: Dark Horse Comics
Story: Mike Mignola
Art by: Mike Mignola & Richard Corben
Colors: Dave Stewart
Letters: Clem Robins
Editor: Scott Allie
Price: $2.99 US/$4.25 CAN
http://www.evilavatar.com/images/thumbs/comics/hellboymakoma1.jpg
This two-part Hellboy story occurs before the events seen in the recent story arc of Hellboy: The Island. As of the time of this story, Hellboy is still a part of the B.P.R.D and encounters a mummy that’s being stored at the NYC Explorers Club. He encountered this mummy during a trip to Egypt when he was younger and upon their second meeting she takes him back to Africa in via a dream to explore the myth of Makoma firsthand.
Mike Mignola and Richard Corben have created a fun Hellboy mythological story that is told through their own breathtakingly unique gorgeous artwork. The story and dialogue is dead on since Mignola’s is Hellboy’s creator.
Bottom Line:
The review of this issue is so short because this issue truly needs to be experienced first hand to enjoy the rich artwork and enjoyable storyline. Even if you’re a casual Hellboy fan due to the movie do yourself a favor and pick up this and the subsequent issue, they are worth your time and money.

Fury: Peacemaker #1 of 6
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Writer: Garth Ennis
Pencils: Darick Robertson
Inks: Jimmy Palmiotti
Colors: Raul Trevino
Letters: VC’s Joe Carmagna
Editor: Alex Alonso
Price: $3.50 US/$5.00 CAN

Perhaps you remember those great Sgt. Rock stories written by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Joe Kubert or Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby? If not, Garth Ennis’ does and his well meaning intentions of trying to create something to stand up to these classics fall quite short in the process. This series is supposed to offer a glimpse to the past of Nick Fury before he became Sargent and led the Howling Commandos and long before he ran S.H.I.E.L.D. In this single issue, very little happens other than the utter destruction of his unit from German forces and being the sole survivor. The Germans find him in the midst of the carnage and allowed to him to live after being given a canteen of water as well as some advice from a German commander to enjoy war if one wants to be good at it.
Ennis created a padded story that went nowhere fast with flat characters and dialogue to match. The artwork by Darick Robertson is decent but he rarely drew any images Fury where you could see his eyes, instead they appeared cavernous.
Bottom Line:
This issue is not worth your time and money, even if you enjoy war comics or Nick Fury, save your time and money. Especially when the cover price is $3.50

What else is worth reading this week…
· X-Factor #3 – Quite entertaining and this puts Layla Miller in a whole different light.
· Captain America #14 – The surprise of this story arc is that evil never dies and the revelation has great potential.

Eep. I was gonna get the Peacemaker mini. Maybe I should drop it real fast while I still have time. :S
Also: Exterminators #2 was great. That series is looking to be fantastic.

Oddly enough serious, I love Deadpool :p
Also I've done enough research into comics to know that to enjoy them you need to know pretty much everything about them, otherwise the endless changes in writers and books just makes the already confusing mess utterly alien. So Cable & Deadpool seemed a good niche to sit in (especially with Providence being what it is, in the middle of the ocean. Jesus with guns and an obsessed fan of Bea Arthur, is there a better team up possible?

Honestly i love Deadpool too, he has one of the best costumes despite looking like a certain webslingers. Hell, only reason i wanted to get X-Men Legends II was for Deadpool. Though i haven't read Deadpool since the Joe Kelly run stopped, so haven't been keeping up to date with it though.
Also i second Kef in the Fury: Peacemaker in saying thanks to Everlost. Though i guess saving some money after out of no where buying X-Men just for Doop. Damn that Doop (who came with the Deadpool action figure oddly enough too).

The stuff just beyond Kelly was awful, I mean seriously awful.
After that it got better again, but Kelly's stuff was still the best of it.

I'm just hoping I can still get out of buying it. It's on my pull list but the issue didn't show up, so they re-ordered it. But I buy a ton from my shop, so hopefully they won't mind me pulling out of one mini.

I wouldn't mind seeing a review of Sentinel Squad O*N*E #1 , as it seems like it could be interesting.

I thought that Nick Fury:Peacemaker was pretty well done.. the art wasn't fantastic, but there were some cool layout tricks and the dialogue was up to Ennis' usual high marks. The plot was told in an interesting way and it seemed to be leading up to something much bigger. None of the characters were incredibly well developed, but then few them were around by the end of the issue, so it didn't seem essential to develop them well. Id say it compares pretty favorably with last month's Sgt Rock #1 and I'm definitely interested enough to read a few more issues.

I have to disagree about the plot, it felt like it was a paint by the numbers effort. The dialogue was also not up the usual snuff that Ennis has produced in the past, in this issue it was flat and unintersting. That's just my opinion.
