4 days ago, an ex-developer at Ion Storm Austin gingerly made his way into the TTLG forum (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103607) (a Looking Glass Studios fansite) and fenced off the OST to the studios' fateful last game.
The spooky tunes are now ready for mass circulation. (http://files.filefront.com/Thief_Deadly_Shadows_Soundtrackzip/;4712193;;/fileinfo.html) Enjoy!
UPDATE: File pulled from FileFront; use this (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XM02PM4J) instead, download link is to the right of ads by google and under megaupload links. Otherwise look inside the original thread for another link.

I doubt anyone's gonna raise a fuss over this, still get it while it lasts.

Shalebridge Cradle. Oh man. I'm about to go to bed but I really must listen to it. Just once. Just once. I can take it.
AAAARGH.

Heh, far too late my now. The internet has it, and is doing its job.
They've already got an eMule link. No torrent, but eMule will do the job.

Hey, neat. My kids and I do the "play pretend" thing quite often in our basement and proper ambiance music is a must. The latest favorite is Pirates of the Carribbean, though this would work much better for the various sneaking games.

Shalebridge Cradle.
I don't scare easily at all but that level gave me the creeps in a big way.

I'm the same way, and yet the rumbling of the door from the attic gave the back of my neck a shiver, literally.
It's never happened before, ever.

I want to play this game SO BAD, but every time I install it, I can move normally for a few seconds, but then it seems like it gets stuck on "creep", and i can only move slllllloooooowwwwwwwly. it's weird.

A post you can't read isn't really a post. It didn't sit well on the page. :)

This is listed for the 360 backwards compatible. How does it play? Is it worth picking it up on the cheap? And no I don't own a Xbox so I won't play it on that.

What a phenominal article. Makes me wish I had a copy of the game.

Definitely. As you have probably read already in this thread, Shalebridge Cradle is easily one of the most psychologically affecting gameplay experiences you will ever have. It alone is worth the price of admission.
Other than that, the game certainly feels like it belongs in the Thief franchise. Warren Spector and company did a great job of emulating the feel of the original games. The story, particularily the way it is presented, is interesting. Also, the levels are extremely varied and never feel repetitive. And the city hub provides the game with a good sense of cohesiveness.
My only real gripe with the game was that enemies who have detected you become seemingly invincible. One arrow to the head always takes down an unaware foe, but as soon as they have spotted you, it takes many many arrows before they fall, as if using their eyes turns their heads into steel. However, this is a small nitpick as when spotted the best thing to do is run anyways.
In other words, get this game.
Oh, and Kieron Gillen is one of the greatest gaming writers ever. Everything I have read of his is superb.

Might I suggest PC version?

Shalebridge Cradle is one of the best and spookiest levels in all of gaming.
And I, Thief Fan #1, am very excited by the release of the soundtrack. Huzzah!

So what you're saying, basically, is that you scare easily...

I have the PC version of this, but I might now pick up the Xbox version since it is compatible with the 360. Playing this with my big screen and surround sound might be real fun...

That's the idea, you "de-shadow" it by highlighting cus Thief games are dark.
Anyway, I hear Spector is up to his old tricks again. Wonder what it could be?

Just a warning about the console version. It shipped with a quite significant bug. If you saved mid level and re-loaded, it defaulted to the lowest difficulty level, where the AI was comletely brain dead and you could just about tap dance behind them without alerting them. It was patched on PC, but as far as I know, no patched version of the console version was ever released.

If you do have the PC version, I highly recommend downloading the high-res texture packs. They make the game oh-so-much better. no more glowy blue doors, things look decent... Bah. Me word spell goodly if me not working still and me no tired.
I'm not sure if the original site for the texture packs is still up, but just do a Google search and I'm sure you'll find it somewhere. Highly recommended.
As for Thief 3, the game, I didn't really like the hub. If it had been a wide open city that didn't require all of the god-awfully long load times, I may have enjoyed it more. As it was, I loathed the load times and the constant backtracking just got tedious. I would have rather had a few more levels that could have conveyed the hub story sequences without being so annoying.
Otherwise, technical issues aside, it was quite nice.
Oh, I would have also done without the ingame engine (yet badly rendered) cutscenes and done them all in the style of the cutscenes from Thief 1 & 2. At least there were a few done like that.
Speaking of which, what IS that style called. It's a strange kind of animation... mostly static images moving against each other. I love the look of it when I've seen it done other places but have no idea if it has a name.
