PS3 Firmware 3.0 Problems Reported

Edge Online is reporting (http://www.edge-online.com/news/ps3-firmware-30-problems-reported) that some users are having problems with the new PS3 firmware 3.0.

Numerous users, some of whom specifically name the ceramic white wireless PS3 DualShock pad, are reporting their inability to synch up controllers with their consoles.

Other users are experiencing “freezes” mid-session when playing Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, a problem they say began after the firmware update’s release on September 1.

Many of the users reporting problems say that they have just purchased the newly released PS3 Slim, although others are experiencing the same issues with older PS3 models.

Good thing I didn't upgrade -- I'm in the middle of playing Uncharted.

This is what happens as consoles become more and more like PCs...with firmware updates come firmware update problems.

I guess there's positives and negatives to it. This is a negative. Oh well. Welcome to the world of progress.

I bought and updated the slim. I haven't played any games yet, but the sampler bluray that is a pack-in never showed up on any of the menus. I felt pretty dumb.
"How the hell do you start the disk that's in the drive?" I tried a regular DVD after that and it showed up properly in the Video section.

I noticed the same thing with the white dual-shock controller after updating to 3.0. Sometimes it syncs up, sometimes it fails and just keeps blinking.

My Harmony One programmable remote normally controls the PS3 for Blu-ray movies and such, so this only affects me if I want to game on it, which is rare (except for the new Batman game!).

I'm in the middle of my MGS campaign and I will not risk ruining it.

There's no issues with Killzone 2 so I'm unaffected.

So far, v3.0 works flawlessly for me. Awesome update.

I've heard you can get around the Uncharted bug by turning off autosave.
