Recently GamerGod had the opportunity to do a Q&A with EverQuest II Senior Producer Scott Hartsman (http://www.gamergod.com/article.php?article_id=3590) about the expansion, entitled Kingdom of Sky, set for release February 21st.
From the interview:
GamerGod: What will be the biggest feature added to the game in Kingdom of Sky?
Scott Hartsman: Achievements. The simultaneous release of PvP is a pretty huge thing for EverQuest II, but Achievements are the part of Kingdom of Sky that almost everyone on all of the servers will notice.

EQ2 is like a really bad soap opera. It hurts to watch (read play), but it can be fun to hear about on occasion. Hmm actually I don't even like hearing about soap operas.. but I think I made my point.
Personally I think pvp is going to be pretty bad in EQ2 prompting either a reworking or lots of cancelations. Time will tell.

Im still under NDA, so I can't really detail much, but I will say that the achivements system rocks. In my opinion, EQ2 won't be EQ2 without them, once they go live.

Geez... only 2 replies over an EQ2 post. I just picked up EQ2 about two weeks ago after playing WoW fairly regularly for the previous six months, and I really don't understand why people shy away from the game so much.
Maybe it just doesn't feel as friendly to the casual/new player? I'm finding a lot of things about the game that EQ2 does better than WoW.

I bought EQ2 when I had time, and I played my free month and LOVED it. And this is a guy who can't stand MMORPGs not on principle, but just on the content of the games themselves. I've tried 10 or more, including WoW, and I just never found them all that enjoybale wich the exception of City of Heroes.
EQ2 raised the bar in so many areas, that I think the whole reason people play WoW instead is mostly just a matter of trendiness and a real love of the things they complain abotu and say they hate. Treadmills for instance.

Because it's made and supported by Sony.

Ok...so I guess that means you don't play games made and published by the other "evil" companies like Turbine, EA, and UBIsoft (starforce lover) too?

I love hearing things like this, because I have had the itch to pick up EQ2 sometime. I really don't even know why, just do.

I'd say go for it. Best Buy and Gamestop are selling it for $20.
Although, FYI, you'll need either a credit card or a game card to activate your account for the free month. It won't bill your card right away, but it still requires it.
