Eurogamer has posted a few quotes (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/cage-defends-madison-striptease-scene) from Quantic Dream's David Cage, defending the striptease scene in their random quicktime-event generator, Heavy Rain.

During the scene, Madison discovers that the club owner only has eyes for the girls pole-dancing near to where he's sitting, and the player is given the option to retire to the restrooms to doll her up, before gyrating provocatively to catch his attention.

Having done so, Madison and the owner retire to a private room and she uses a weapon in her purse to extort information from him. However, in the choice-and-consequence world of Heavy Rain, things can go very wrong.

"It was received in a very interesting way. I think with this game we go from discovery to discovery," he told Eurogamer during gamescom last week. "We had a couple of people who felt uncomfortable watching the scene, which is perfect because this is exactly what we wanted.

As movie and games tend to further blur the lines between them, expect more adult content and scenes to become prevalent. I don't mind at all.

Now, if it was a dude stripteasing, I just wouldn't buy the game.

I like this guy.

I do whatever it takes to tell my story, and I hope people will enjoy it, but I'm not playing safe things here, I'm trying things, I'm exploring new ground, and I hope people will appreciate that.

I just hope the US version does not get censored like it was in Fahrenheit.

The US censors all the wrong things. I for one think that was a perfect way to lead into a scene where she needs to get intimately close in order to get what she needs.

Is it better than the end sequence for Christie in DOA4?

random quicktime-event generator, Heavy Rain.

Nicely played.

I'm definitely looking forward to this game, but I'm very much over quicktime events.

I was playing Batman: AA last night, and in the Bane battle, I was sure I was gonna have to start mashing buttons when I jumped on his back. So pleasant to not have that happen.

Good way to market it.

Quantic seems so 15 years ago. The industry seems to just now be coming around to the fact that many gamers still want games and not "interactive whatever-you-want-to-call-it-today".

Quantic can keep chasing that stupid stick that developers have been chasing ever since Sewer Shark. I'll keep playing Wii Sports Resort and Shadow Complex.

Not all games need to be entertainment activities aimed at a demographic majority.

I must be completely out of touch, because I still play through Dragon's Lair every now and again.

If they can make a linear, scripted game that's sufficiently fun and/or interesting, even if it's not the epitome of open-world interaction, I still may well buy and enjoy it.

I'm the opposite. Quantic Dream is one developer whose games always intrigue me.

Omnikron, Fahrenheit... both games blew me away (not suggesting they were flawless mind you). Looking forward to Heavy Rain and the fact that Omnikron 2 is in development leaves me salivating.

is quantic the same group that did Omikron: the Nomad Soul? Watching the trailer for this made me very reminicent of that game. (which was highly under-rated btw)

He shouldn’t have to defend a thing!

Heavy Rain was never meant to be for the kiddies anyway.

Man, I sure hope Omikron 2 isn't a PS3 exclusive. I'd really like to be able to play that one. Heavy Rain is bad enough.

What if they merge a bit of The Crying Game into the story - you know the bit I'm talking about. If a game managed to do that without it being leaked the internet reaction would be some combination of hilarious and terrifying.

That's awesome. I might use that in the future. Probably won't give you credit.

Well, if I get a boner and it turns out to be a guy, let's just say I hope I can get "in-store" credit!

Doesn't that happen all the time in world of warcraft and everquest?
