Yeah, seems the over-the-shoulder P.O.V was ditched. As it stands, the game is 90% the same, with some extra knifing mini sections (using the touch screen) and some new monster placements/puzzles.

Still, it's Resident Evil on a fucking handheld.

This is reaching the Mega Man levels of milking/ rehashing/ releasing/ porting.

If this were a new chapter of the RE saga, I might be interested. Seeing that I'm not a HUGE RE fan anyway, I'm not terribly excited about playing yet another remix of RE1.

Although the knifing bits sound fun.

Not hardly.

The game is looking better in those shots than it did a few months ago. But like someone already said, it may not look great, but it's Resident Evil on a handheld!!

I did read an article in Nintendo Power a few months ago that said they changed a lot. Such as before when you would kill a room full of enemies, they'd usually stay gone. This time you might entered a "cleared" room and be confronted with a swarm of zombies. And I love that the knife is no longer in inventory. It's always equipped and doesn't use up an inventory slot.

I hope this isnt a continuous respawn, ala Metroid Prime. Every zombie is supposed to have a story behind him/her ffs... dont make this into an arcade game, just add a mini-game instead :(

I like how, when abbrieviated, it is RE: DS, but they actaully made DS stand for something.

I think the title looks good considering the hardware...but another RE1 trot? Why not RE2? Still, it looks promising, I'm excited for the game. I really want a horror title to succeed on a handheld and RE: DS has the potential.

There's a lot of DS games that do that. Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. Advanced Wars: Dual Strike.

Wait, back up the truck, did you say you read Nintendo Power? What games could they possibly cover anymore? Is it all DS stuff now?

You can change the colour in the options.

Red Blood FTW!

Well, you could always just play the classic mode instead of the new mode...

I remember in the N64 version of RE2 (still the best version BTW, why did I get rid of it for the GCN version... :( ), it let you have blue blood, it sucked but was interesting nonetheless.

Ah, that was the version where you were killing ROYAL zombies.

Seems like a Killer app for the DS. When considering the only "Killer app." for it that i'd ever buy is that awsome looking Castelvania game, If i had a DS.

But...their is a high probablity that a few things about it will suck majorly becuase of horrible styelus control....also - the other screen is just the map? Big whoop. I still think the whole 2 screens things is a pointless waste.

But if Capcom makes any more remakes for this franchise...it has to be RE:2 - done like RE:4. That would be too* cool.

Dude, you didn't do any research into the game at all, did you? The game uses the face buttons for control. The stylus is used for special functions, such as puzzles and knife fighting. The mic is even used for CPR to revive Richard, among other possible things. The game also offers a straight port mode that doesn't have all the extra DS content and goodies.

And that Castlevania game? It also uses the second "pointless waste" of a second screen for a map.

As for killer apps...that is deterimined by opinion, but here are some DS games that most would agree kick ass:
Sonic Rush
Super Mario 64 DS
Castlevania (as you said)
Advance Wars DS
Phoenix Wright
Trauma Center
Kirby
Meteos
Mario Kart DS
Mario & Luigi: PiT

And the list goes on. Please don't diss a platform you haven't tried (you obviously knew little about RE: DS and Castlevania, so I'm just assuming you haven't tried it). And check your spelling and grammar. You managed to misspell five words in just two short paragraphs. Christ, no one is going to take you seriously if your opinions lack foundation and decent spelling.

Oh boy my spelling and grammar...no..five whole words..nooo!!

I know about those games, except Super Mario 64 DS-that I would probably buy. The rest? No. I just think the DS having two screens are POINTLESS.
Although the touch screen is neat...From what I understand- many the best games don't even really use it. (and obviously you would not use the touch screen to move your character...that would be asenine in a game like RE.) From what I've read in reviews more often than not, features are put in games to try and utalize the touch screen that only detract from the game play...but since I own NO portable gaming devices and never plan too - I don't really care that much to learn much more about them.

and yeah- i know what the "other" screen is used for in that castelvania game- and it's still a waste. A whole other screen...used to show a Map. Stupid. It's like somehow playing SOTN with a whole other TV to show you your map.

-The DS is a convoluted mess of features and only rarely are they used correctly to make a good game.

I haven't played some of those games, but in Sonic Rush, you move between the two screens like crazy, and it is awesome fun. Mario & Luigi, the babies go in caves and are controlled on the top screen, while the bottom screen shows the others in case enemies near. For fighting in M&L, many of the items use the top screen and would be impossible to show otherwise.

Sounds to me like you've never played a Castlevania game before. Do you realize that about half of the time spent playing is looking at the map to figure out where to go next? Having the map open constantly in that game is possibly the BEST use of the second screen to date, IMO.

Never played?! I use the abbr. "SOTN" assuming people know it means Symphony of the Night. I'm not a castelvania fan-boy, but I love that freakin' game. And Super Metroid...for obvious reasons. 2D adventure platformers are clearly the shiznite.

And I wasn't questioning the the utalization of the second screen...I were merely pointing out how pointless and stupid it is to have two seperate screens.

Now - what would be cool eventually (and possibly worth purchasing) is a Handheld system that uses the technology featured in this link...

If its being utilized properly (and I think that in many games, it is), then its not pointless and stupid, is it?

If you don't want a system with two screens, then its simple, don't get it. Nobody's forcing you to, and the GBA actually became cheaper once the DS was released. But I don't see the purpose in going into a thread about a game and talking bad about the system its on. If you have a fault with the game itself, good, state it. If not, then until you open a new thread to talk about how you think the second screen is useless, this discussion is over.
