A couple of days ago (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9302), we revealed the bottom half of the top 20, and today we announce what the WorthPlaying staff considers to be the 10 most anticipated games for the upcoming year.
Cue the drumroll, and head on over to WP's Most Anticipated Games of 2006 (http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=31550) section for the final results!
Let the flaming begin!
I personally agree with #1. Oh how I wait and sacrifice animals to bring that release date ever closer.

People actually liked Kingdom Hearts?

Believe it or not, lots of people do. In fact just because Disney is in it there are thousands of people who never really play games that love that game.
I'm pumped for Grandia III, but I think Shadow Hearts 3 should have been a bit higher on that list, personally.

Where is Spore?
Where is Total Annihilation 2?

Zelda would've been number one on my list, but since it was also number one on my list last year I think its only fair that they gave the title someone else. :p

I agree with most of the games on the list. I was surprised to see Grandia III make the list, at #7 no less. But I anticipate Zelda and KHII more than Oblivion. Please don't hate me! :p
Wow, Fight Night R3 is on there. I will admit I absolutely love this series!
Here's hoping we see Twilight Princess this year.

Twilight Princess, baby. I'm going to try to play through every Zelda I can get my hands on between now and its release. I'm about 2/3 through Ocarina of Time and almost finished with Zelda 2.
Did they ever say Spore would be an actual release? I remember Wright saying it was more of an "idea demo" than a retail project.

I can't wait to get my grubby hands on Oblivion.
I am seriously considering picking up Fight Night the day it is released. Was never a big fan of Boxing games, but that 360 demo is a lot of fun.

Pretty good list I guess... I'd have to agree with them overall.

Spore is being supposedly to be released as a game.

I'm the same as you, Jachbe. I'm waiting on Fight Night 3. I even saw FN2 sitting at Target today for 20 bucks, but didn't buy it. That demo sold me and I'll accept nothing less at this point. I don't even like fighting games.
That, and I'm dying for a game to make me not regret this massive purchase right before my first mortgage payment is due.

Where is Spore?
Where is Total Annihilation 2?
Hmn. I really have my doubts about those titles coming out in 2006, maybe that's why they are absent.
As for the rest, while I may not be totally on board with the order per se (though number one truly IS number one in this case) I think almost all those games are ones I'd buy if not ready several review coverage after they launch.

Condemned. That's a killer title for the system, at least rent it (if you haven't already try it).
FNR3 is incredible, and while I've never enjoyed boxing before (except in movies, maybe) this one is incredible. I must have played the demo 50 times now.

Where is Spore?
Where is Total Annihilation 2?
Where are:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Halo 3
Huxley
Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures
WTF are these going on it:
Tales of Legendia
Metroid Prime: Hunters
Neverwinter Nights 2 (on the list maybe, but the top 10?)
Black - (lots of negative previews and a shit demo)
Also, Elder Scrolls #1?
Okay, whatever. . . this is an "opinion story", but it does feel way off.

Stalker is actually "Anticipated"? Bwaaa-ha-ha! What a bunch of jokers. I stopped reading after that...funny stuff, though.

Good one, guys.
Ok, ok, check his out: *Ring*Ring*
Stalker: "Hello?"
2001: "Hi, its 2001 calling, we want our game back"

Looks like everyone is really excited about Oblivion, except me. To me it seems like a bigger version of Morrowind with better graphics/physics. That's all well and good, but I thought Morrowind's combat was pretty boring/bad, and even though I liked the game, I just couldn't play it for that long. Is Oblivion going to be fun?

Condemned is boring the crap out of me. I only played it the first night I owned the system. COD2 has kept me busy for the last few days. Mostly, I've been playing that damned Fight Night demo trying for more conclusive knockouts, playing with the blocking, etc. What a deep fighting engine just to control 2 arms.

My full list for that article was drastically different. It was:
1- SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars
2- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3- Sword of the Stars
4- RF Online
5- Chronicles of Spellborn
6- Etrom: The Astral Essence
7- S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl
8- Tabula Rasa
9- Spore
10- NeverWinterNights 2
Honourable mentions (as expansions, they get to sit in as post-scripts):
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
EverQuest 2: Kingdom of Sky
...Obviously my tastes lie with the lesser-hyped titles. I had totally forgotten about Quake Wars tho, because I am MORONTEHDUMBASS. I have paragraph-form writeups for all of these too, if anyone is interested at all in my reasoning behind them.

Grandia III, Shadow Hearts 3, FF12, KH2 and Tales of Legendia, boy!
I love RPGs--Western and Japanese alike. And I don't think I've been this excited about an RPG in a very long time (Grandia III). I guess I'm not completely jaded yet.
Damnit, this might be the last huge year for the PS2, but it's going out with a JRPG-happy bang! This is possibly the strongest year for JRPGs ever for the PS2. God, how I love(d) this ancient little machine.

Splinter Cell: DA is waaaaaay too low on this list. Kingdom Fucking Hearts at #3?
Come on.

1. Spore
2. Spore
3. Spore
4. Spore
5. Supreme Commander
6. That Thermonuclear War Game
I think I'm done.

I can't disagree with too many of these titles, but I think New Super Mario Bros is easily in my top 5 most anticipated games for 2006. Certainly more so than Metroid Prime: Hunters, the only DS game to make the list.
Oblivion

2 PC titles in top 10. bias or reality?

8. 'Tales of Legendia' (PS2)
I'm sorry, but Tales of Symphonia was so exceptionally bad, battle system aside, that I really can't get excited for another Tales game. Seriously, the cutscenes were unwatchable, and the story line was border line brain dead. Where the hell is Rogue Galaxy? I'm pumped for that game. That and Hunters.
Dammit .. Mr Snuffle beat me to the Duke Nukem bash. :) It would be cool to see it this year .. (um, whether anyone is still around who remembers duke or cares is another matter.)
Though I'm no Halo fan, and I realise the list is just opinion, it's hard to see how Halo 3 couldn't be on that list.

Yes! For a little while there I was worried that I was the only one looking forward to that one.

AS I get older I buy fewer and fewer games. And because Sports games and FPS games are not really my thing, the list of titles that interest me is never very long. I will say that I am looking forward to twilight princess, but mostly because I am hoping it will be the best game my little girl has ever played. For myself, the only game I am really looking forward to for 2006 is Supreme Commander. TA is what got me gaming in the first place and I am really looking forward to this new game from Chris Taylor. Aside from that, I have so many games at home that I have never finished, I could probably coast through 2008.
