View Full Version : Pure Evil - Call for Donations

Following up on the Call for Donations thread (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9303), I sat on hold with our host for a couple of hours this morning and I added another six months of hosting time to my account.
The account should auto-renew, but the problem is usually that by the time they get around to auto-renewing, I've been issued a new credit card with a new expiration date. Last year around February this resulted in a couple of days of downtime until I could get ahold of billing and resolve the issue.
Now, I just head them off at the pass and call in my order way in advance.
Thanks a ton to everyone who donated! I see a lot of new orange names. Welcome to the Club!
(Is it an Evil club?)
Did my taxes, don't owe a grand like I did last year, so I'll throw some more money your way.

How often do you need to donate to get an orange name?

Check this link (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/subscriptions.php?) for the different subscription options.
I did twice before the subscription system, figured that's why I'm still yellow. Never cared enough to ask.

Just donated...I figure I cause enough trouble here that I should chip in.

But how much to get my name orange. I mean, donations are all about what's in it for me, right? :)
And what's the tax write off code for this donation. I think the "Fund Evil's new Yellow Hoopty" charity is on the IRS's list right?

You bastard. You were on my list of people to rail against for not subscribing. Ruiner of fun.

Well I'm pretty cheap, but I donated $25 bucks. EA is my favorite gaming news site, even if it's filled with console loyalists and Nintendo fanboys. ;)

I second that...hands down this is the best site. Great cross section of information and tons of people who are passionatte about the subject matter.

There is no real minimum since it is a donation to help out the page. I have the $5.00 and $10.00 set to six months to remind people to help out with hosting costs when those costs come around, but by individual request I will extend those to one year like all the other donations.
Sorry, I don't think "Help Evil pay for hosting." is tax deductible. :(
(Which would explain why it is listed as a "Subscription" rather than a "Donation" in the User CP. I'm trying not to confuse anyone.)

Nitpick time - shouldn't the call be for subscriptions then, and not donations?
That's what you get for calling me bootsy! :)

A powerful cologne filled with the fragrance of fresh dust burning on SLI'd 7800 GTXs. A new scent from Evil Avatar.
Passion.

Evil, do you get a percentage from the EA tshirts? I bought one previously but like a huge clumsy dork there is a big diet coke stain on it that will not come out. So, I was thinking of picking up another on up.

White version as well, which is the one I got. Not that I can wear it now, but I loved sporting it around in warmer weather.

I did get something at the time, but I don't think we do any more, that was a long time back.
Order one anyway, they are pretty cool. I need to find another vendor for those.

So do I get to see my name orange now?
Edit: I guess so. Happy to support the last good site.

So is there going to be a Evil Avatar card game, to rival Penny Arcade's?

It was a joke. :) I donated a long while ago, got a subscriber tag (evil eye), the site changed software and I lost my "status". I metioned it to Philip and he fixed it for me. Then the site changed software AGAIN. And now we're all caught up. :)
Edit: See Taco's post (#5). Same here.

Wish i could help, but i'm on a budget again. With 4500 members i'm sure there's plenty of people will hear that call and help.

Always happy to toss more cash towards the coolest game news site around =] This and Slashdot are like the two sites I visit first when I wake up/break at work/etc.

Looks like you already helped out! That counts for a lot. Hosting is a very real expense and readers cover that pretty much 100% every time I ask and it looks to me like you covered it last time I asked since you have an orange name.
Thanks! (And again thanks to everyone else!)

Yea, those are a great idea. I'll have to start tossing around some ideas and try to find someone who can do colors.
Remind me to show you the Resident Evil Zombie shirt I found that I thought was really cool.
