Well, there will be no Optimus Keyboard tomorrow but we will be seeing a "Mini Three" that will be available on May 15th... Pre-Order is only priced at $100.

Link: Optimus Mini Three (http://www.artlebedev.com/portfolio/optimus-mini/)

Was kind of hoping to pick up the Optimus Keyboard tomorrow... :( But it does mention on the site that it "should" be available later this year.

Semi old by now...

Its useless though, and at $100 just for that, the full keyboard will be insanely expensive. People think Im odd for spending $60 on my Saitek Eclipse...

$100 for three buttons?!? So not worth it. At that price, I wouldn't be able to afford the number pad.

Especially since the life is only 5000 hours. 1 year, maybe 2 with the keysaver... no thanks. Maybe if it was a full numpad sized set of buttons, but not three keys.

Default setup: Ctrl, Alt, Del?

I'm quite confused about this, is it 100$ for the three button only? Or do you get the three button now and the full whenever it comes out?

Its jsut the three button thing for $100...

I imagine this is the just the proof, proof that the keyboard can be a reality, proof to investors that the concept is real, and a little cash to help fund the project in the mean time.

I agree $100 for 3 buttons is insane, but I'm thinking they don't expect alot of people to buy it, more just to prove to investors they can do it. I would easily spend $100 on the full keyboard though

It's just the three buttons. They're pretty big buttons, though; big enough to show 5fps video, evidently.

That's a hilarious idea, though. When you have to buy your keyboard in installments, you know it's too damn expensive.
I still want one, of course...

This is not the "Optimus". This is something all by itself, thats why its called the "Optimus Mini"...

It's probably to test the water before they go all out with the full keyboard. If this doesn't sell well at $100, then the full won't sell well either.

Well either way this got me thinking, some sort of innovation would be cool for either the keyboard or mouse. I dont know what, or why, but theyre just the same as they almost always have been. I know about optical mice and everything but thats just an improvement.

Yeah... completly shocked by this.

Here I was expecting NOTHING, and they make something. To me, the biggest part isn't so much the hardware, but the software. It has to be DAMN good for this to work right, otherwise it's just a fancy widget.

Next question... can these be daisy chained?

Oh god. Oh well, I suppose I'll just get my tech shop teacher to buy one for us to "learn from". :D

I'm pretty much planning on picking up one of the keyboards no matter how much they cost. Also, they say on their site that they're releasing it so that early adopters and such can start writing simple setups for it...should be interesting to see, at the very least. I'm still amazed that it's actually being released...i didn't think it was possible in the slightest for something like this.

I admit it's pretty damn cool. But at that price I can't imagine springing for it. Would be damn cool for mech style games though. Ala the battletech pods.

Tempted....very tempted...just because I'm a gadget whore. I'd assign the buttons as follows:
Button 1) Evil Avatar
Button 2) Email
Button 3) Pr0n

:) Everyone needs a dedicated pr0n button. Think of the possibilities!!

The screens don't even take up the entire button. This, for me personally, would be an amazing waste of $100, but it's a smart move on their part because there are going to be a whole lot of people willing to shell out for this. Probably the same people that paid for this $45 USB volume knob (http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate/).

I have an iTouch Logitech keyboard. It has media buttons and shortcut buttons. I have the "iTouch" button pointing to a particular website :D It's like Pr0n without the work!

If I owned the Optimus, I already have a couple of ideas I'd LOVE to try out. Like mapping a picture accross the entire keyboard or making the pictures change after inactivity, like a keyboard-saver. I'm excited about this thing, I don't care how long it gets pushed off, I want it to be done right (and durable  ) if I'm shelling out that kind of cash

How about look into the page you link and be more informed, it's actually a control device.

So then the actual keyboard is going to be closer to $300 then? Man, and I thought I payed too much for the Logitech G15, although the possibilities with the Optimus are sweet.

BTW, how 'bout you re-read your posts and fix your grammar.

LOL, i have to agree with you, i bought a Ipod video some weeks ago, and this weekend is the great one, when i at last convert some pr0n to my Ipod for on the go :D
I'm also looking forward to this keyboard but i honestly not going to pay more than $100 for it.

Ha, i think it's going to be at least 300...probably 299. That's just a guess though. Although, i'll probably shell it out for it if i get a bonus or something.
