The official Battlefield 2 page (http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/editorial.jsp?src=communityupdate_013106) has some news concerning the upcoming patch and booster pack- namely that the the patch is delayed, causing the booster pack to do the same.
The patch: "sometime in the next two or three weeks."
The pack: "in the latter half of February."
However, one major thing that everyone will love (among others):
And finally…
*The Red/Blue nametag bug has been addressed

This is only good news. Considering how buggy as shit this exceptional game is, Im thankful they have delayed it.

I'll have to start playing again once the patch hits.

Not until they make a patch that addresses load times. :)
The load times on this game are just horrendous. Takes me right out of the mood to play while I watch "Veryifying Game Content" or whatever it says. Been weeks since I messed with it.

Yeah, the load times on this bug the hell out of me.
However, the game is so awesome when you're playing with a bunch of your buddies, that I have no complaints. We use the time between server changes to chat it up and gloat about our awesomeness.

Look Baby (and I'm not trying to put you in the corner), the key to success in loading BF2 is a shit-ton of RAM. We're talking 2 gigs here. That's the key. I was once like you, sitting on only a gig of RAM, sad that I Couldn't get my BF2 on as quickly as I wanted. But Then I got that second stick and all my worries went away. You pick up that second gig, and I will see on Delta squad, cheering as we push back the communist hordes. Huzzah!

astronautsandwich is right btw, 2GB certainly helped me with load times. Now when I'm in on the server and going "Squad's up" the guys all go "FUCK, I'm not even verifying yet!".

It takes me about 40 seconds to load karkand and maybe another 20 to verify client data (1gb corsair XMS). Ill be getting another gig at some point soon, but a minute for this amount of content isnt bad.
Oh, and my pagefile is on its own physical HDD, which makes what does overflow from my RAM much faster than it would be if it was on the same physical drive as BF2 or windows itself.

I'll be happy when this patch finally hits. They've actually addressed most of my complaints about the game. Can't remember when a game has done this in a while.

What the hell are you talking about!? Just cause you say (you're incorrect, obviously) a game is buggy, doesn't mean it actually is buggy. That is the most retarded, and clearly ignorant thing ever. Have you even played this game for more than 30 minutes?

It's delayed and it still going to be buggy. :P

I absolutely love BF2 and have played it for many many hours. That being said... it's pretty buggy. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

there are plenty of little things that make you slam your mouse down in frustration, but ive never come across any show-stopping bugs. Maybe an occasional CTD for no reason, but otherwise its an awesome game.

Something else astro got. A bit of well due respect from the neighbors.
((he's right btw. 2 gigs in dual channel or bust))

A patch to fix load times? Ponder that for a bit, and tell us how it would work.
"Oh yeah, the new patch significantly decreases load times. We've gone in and made the maps much smaller, with far fewer models, and the models we do use are very simple, with only a few low res textures."
"While this makes your game load much quicker, it does have the effect of making it look like a laggy game of Robotron."
The power is in your hands to fix your load times, it is called: Upgrade Your Computer.

I just got an email from EA! "Download the Battlefield 2 Euro Force™ Booster Pack"
Clearly, someone in their marketting/advertising/sales department's not paying attention?

Are you talking about BF2 here? If you are... WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING?
BF2 is one of the buggiest games I've ever had the pleasure of playing!
That being said, even with the boatload of bugs it contains, it's still the most fun I've ever had with an online Shooter. I think the only thing that could be better than it is Battlefield 3, or maybe Battlefield 2 without all the Bugs!
Random:
I pondered a while, and I'm of the impression there'd likely be improvements to be found in Punkbuster's verifying data section of the map loading.
Heck, for single player training (like when you're practicing flying the chopper, why, WHY does the client need to verify data? I just loaded the data, why does it need to be verified? Pretty sure I'm verifying data for some type of punkbuster thing, but why does it have to verify if I'm using the single player game? SILLY NO?
