Speaking to Eurogamer Naughty Dog's community manager has stated that the company still wants to work on Jak and Daxter but is pretty snowed under with Uncharted. The pair will feature in a new game developed by High Impact Games for both the PSP and PS2 - the story of which will take place between Jak 3 and Jak X.

"We definitely hear a lot from our Jak fans and we'd love to be able to be working on a new Jak product at some point," he told Eurogamer. "That might be on the cards."

But does "product" mean a new PS3 title? "We'd like to work on it," said Meyer.

At the moment, however, the studio has its hands full with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. "Right now, we're really focused on working through this franchise," Meyer added.

I think this is one of the franchises Sony has dropped the ball on a little. Money would be well spent investing in Naughty Dog so that they can run two projects simultaneously.

I'd like to see J&D return to the spirit of the original game. I played all the PS2 J&D core games, but I really didn't care for the GTA meets Ratchett and Clank formula they adopted for the sequels. Everything needs dirt/grit these days and has to be really dark.

Yeah. I loved the first one the most. It was definitely one of my favourite platformers from the last generation. But then, I love platformers in general.

Definitely didn't dig the direction the last two went in, but the reviews were all applauding it from Jak 2, so we know who won out in the end. :(

Ted Price said "we wanted to create a franchise (in Resistance) that would be attractive to the early adopters of PlayStation 3. For us the obvious choice was a first-person shooter because that's what a lot of hardcore players really like." I've read similar comments from Sucker Punch with respect to their switch from Sly to Infamous. As the install base grows we should see a bit more diversity. At least we can hope.

I agree it would be awesome if Naughty Dog could move to a annual release cycle the way Insomniac does with R&C and Resistance. But it is one of those things that is easier said than done. Especially, if you don't want them to compromise on quality.
