After a few weeks of deliberation, voting and briberies, we have finally completed our top 20, what our editors think will be some of the most promising games for the upcoming year. We're starting with titles ranked 11-20, so come back in a few days for the top 10.
Head on over to WP's Most Anticipated Games of 2006 (http://www.worthplaying.com/upcoming_2006.php?op=listarticles&secid=21) section for the bottom half.

Now who were the people saying PC gaming is dead? Almost half of those are PC only and more than half are PC only and PC ports (which are always better).

WOO Dead Rising. Yeah. Stalker is funny to me, especially after the recent article about it.

Enemy Territory: QuakeWars (http://www.worthplaying.com/upcoming_2006.php?op=viewarticle&artid=985) is #19?!?!? What a bunch of communists. Shannigans I say,

The list went from zero to credible as soon as I saw that Dreamfall was on it.

thx draft, fixed :)
Dead Rising looks "interesting", but I suspect it'll just end up like State of Emergency with zombies.
I'm really over these oft-delayed, over-hyped, late-to-the-party games, like STALKER, Starcraft Ghost, Dreamfall.
If it weren't for Quake Wars and Fight Night R3, I'd be yawning through that entire list.

And that is why they are in the bottom half of the list, last year Dreamfall was on the #2 spot.

That may be YOUR most anticipated, but I'm way more giddy about Shadow Hearts: From The New World and I WILL kill in its name.

ALWAYS better? Really? REALLY really? Me thinks we have a new fanboy in our midst. Oh, and just to rub him the wrong way:
PC gaming is not dead, but it is in decline. Will it ever die? No, because computers are all too common and will continue to be. But when a mediocre console game can outsell the best selling PC games, it is hard to argue that PC gaming is as strong as it was ten, maybe even five, years ago. Now that is a damn shame because the PC is still vastly superior to the consoles in many respects, but, like it or not, it is very inferior in others.
Anyways, this list reminds me about how unexcited I am about the 2006 game lineup. I am categorically looking forward to several titles, but nowhere near as many as past years. I am mainly waiting for a reason to enter the next generation or current generation or whatever the fuck we are supposed to be labelling the 360 et al right now. Right now I am probably most excited about E3 as I figure that Sony and Nintendo will finally have actual playable games - especially considering MS should have second generation games playable, and will probably be previewing third generation games.

PC gaming will never die because it in the end it's much cheaper to develop on the PC. Sure, you'll probably won't ever make as much money versus consoles but any young development house only needs a few tools and computers to start making a game. "Garage Development" only really applies to the PC. You don't need fancy dev kits w/ huge license fee's.
Unfortunately, once this young development house has even a semi-hit the first thing they do is switch to console development.

Umm I think WOW alone proves that PC gaming is not in the decline.
Its just stealth.

I believe it's been said before, the console market gets bigger the PC market is static: it doesn't get bigger or smaller. If you can afford to game with a PC, picking up a console or three isn't exactly a big investment.
In my opinion a top 20 report than barfs together all platforms is just a lazy way of not doing a top 5 or top 10 for each.

I wonder if Oblivion and Neverwinter Nights 2 is in the top 10?
Also, is it my imagination or is only one of those titles not a sequel or part of a franchise? So much for risk taking in 2006.

WoW is a great way to kill it off, though. Just make a brainless MMORPG so people don't need to buy new games again.

They can't do a top 10 for some platforms...
Off the top of my head, I can't list 10 games for any platform that I'm looking forward to.

We all know that means!
More choices is great for the consumer! So you own a XBOX360 and 3 games you want come out on it, but not another 2 you really want because they are PS3? Well my boy, pony up and get yourself a new console!
I hate stupid greedy corporations.

But that's if they ever get released. PC games take duke nukem forever to finish... if they get finished at all.
One of the reasons why I play both pc and console games is because when I finish a game, I want to play another one. I have no patience waiting 5 years for the next cool pc game.
And I played WoW for over a year and I hated the end-game... so I don't play it anymore.
