Bloody-Disgusting (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/) has regurgitated (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/index.php?Show=5699&Template=newsfull)the Variety story (http://www.variety.com/index.asp?layout=upsell_article&articleID=VR1117937013&categoryID=13&cs=1) of a new Friday the 13th movie coming out this October 13th.
Today Variety breaks the silence and reports that New Line is hoping to release its 12th film in the sturdy Friday the 13th franchise on -- surprise -- Friday, Oct. 13! The kicker is that the studio has launched development of a script about Jason Voorhees' origins. Editor's Note: The Variety link requires a subscription to read the article.

Excellent!
Did I also hear correctly about a new Omen movie being released on 06.06.06? Or is a re-release?

Somebody get Uwe Boll on the line, he needs to direct this movie!

If the movie shows Uwe Boll stabbed in the face, I'll be first in line.

I believe that when Jason kills people now, they ought to raise from the dead with a hocky mask too and start fuckin' people up. That'd be awesome! The insane setups that you could have with that sort of thing would rock a theater.

I believe it is a redux of the original. Which is good. Many of those movies need good redux. I was just watching Forbidden Planet last night, talk about a movie hurtin' for a redux!

I am betting on 6 full seconds of full frontal nudity and AAA convolted plot with extra gore. I would like the innarweb to be involved somehow, maybe Jason using AIM would be amusing.

I'm not happy with hollywood's late fascination with remakes. The Fog remake was utter shit. Amityville remake was not complete shit, but shit nonetheless. Texas Chainsaw was decent, but it was another that didn't really need a remake. But the trailer for Omen666 does look interesting/creepy, and I find it refreshing that it actually has a slow pace, compared to flashy fast paced trailers that cater to an attention-deficit audience. I still don't think it needs to be remade tho. (some of the new cast of O666: Liev Schreiber, Julia Styles, Mia Farrow, David Thewlis, Michael Gambon & Pete Postlethwaite)
I'm all for another Friday the 13th tho! And F-UweBoll while I'm at it!

Off topic, I think its rumored that a new Tool album will be released on the same date. I love Tool.
Anyway, it would be cool to see that movie again, last time I did was when I was 5.

So does that mean Jason will have no hockey mask in this (since i imagine this taking place between the first and second one)? Also what do we really need in terms of origin story? I guess maybe Jason selling his soul to the devil to become the unstoppable killing machine or something and then going on pace to be like the rest of the Jason movies (minus 5 and X).
I mean don't get me wrong, i love getting a new Jason movie, but i much rather be getting the Freddy origin story thing (where he's a child killer and is able to find a loop hole in the system and gets away with it, like originally planned years ago).
*EDIT* also doesn't Tool suck on release dates? Like for the last two years i was supposed to believe a new CD was coming out, but it always gets delayed? I'll wait for it to actually be out to get excited.

Oh, I also am a afan of Tool! A new Tool album would be just the thing for long summer drives.
And what in fuck's name were you doing watching The Omen (or were you referring to Friday the 13th?) at 5? :)

I think it would be cool if they go with something along the lines of was hinted at in Jason Goes to Hell. (book of the dead at the family house etc.) Maybe his mother doing the killings in part one was not only revenge but part of the ritual to have him reborn or whatever. At this point in the franchise I think it's a pretty good idea to do an origin story. FvsJ did pretty well and there will no doubt be a sequel to that, but there isn't much left to do with the Jason character alone.

Actually, I changed my mind. This movie will only be redeemed from its previous horrid incarnations by the inclusion of Bruce Campbell.

Oh yeah, nearly forgot about the necronomicon. Though i can imagine if they did that the firestorm of Evil Dead fans would be asking for the Ash vs. Freddy and Jason crossover again, but that won't be happening anytime soon. So i doubt they'd do that or Sam Raimi would give the go ahead to that (because he won't let them make the damn crossover happen anymore).
That sucks too because in the AvF&J script they had Freddy give Jason a bit of inteligence in fighting against Ash and having him learn from all his mistakes. That would've helped added something to the Jason mythos.

Hey i can actually say i enjoyed Jason X. Sure his upgrade was pointless (he can beat a robot dominatrix now!), but that hologram scene with him and the premaridal sex was worth it to me (along with the aftremath of it).
Not really a good dark horror follow up to the usual Friday the 13th movies, but still good as a B sci-fi channel type movie since it took place in the future and all.

I was pleasantly amused by Jason X as well. Whether this one turns out strange like that or along the lines of the others, like I'm expecting, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as well.

Speaking of B sci-fi channel movies, did anyone see a commercial on there for the Sci-Fi channel original House of the Dead 2? I caught the tail end of it last week and haven't seen it since. Am I right assuming that Sci-Fi made a sequel to a shitty Uwe Boll movie?

After the horrible crap that was Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3), I'm hoping they let Ash retire in good memory and stop making movies with him. I see people all over praising that movie up and down, but every time I watch it (I own the video) I go in thinking "I must have missed something last time" and every time halfway through the movie I think "this is the stupidest crap I've ever seen". Each installment has gotten goofier than the last, but the third one was so far over the top it just was not enjoyable for me.
Just say no to FvJvA.

Hehe, I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps if you get enough crappy elements together the scale will flip and it'll be a good movie :).

Yah it's the sequel to the fantastic (AKA horrible beyond recognition) House of the Dead movie. Uwe's not involved, but basically this time the zombies are on a college campus and its up to an elite group to take them down along with two agents...
So yah like all other sci-fi movies, it'll be mind boggling bad with puppets thrown in and CGI blood that looks like gravy.
Also Army of Darkness bad?! WHAT?! Ash let's loose all the one liners in that one! How can you not like Army of Darkness. Sure it doesn't have the horror feel, but it's fuckin Ash! ASH dammit!

I think I have a post and some rope somewhere around here from the last lynching I took place in...
As for a new Friday the 13th flick, I'm all about some more horror goodness in the theatres. There's nothing more entertaining than laughing at a bunch of people jumping up and down in their seats.
... pretty bad that I came out of lurking for that

That was only bit I liked, when he was smacking the naked girl with the other naked girl in the sleeping bag.
Amusing Idiotic story, but not a good horror at all.

Tarintino was also rumored to direct the Half Life movie since he was a fan. All of which were proven false and Tarintino is too busy with Inglorious Bastard (i think is the name of his next movie, but something with bastard), to work on a movie that's supposed to be released in 9 months that's just been announced only a few days ago.
Maybe one day when he wants to do a franchise besides his own, but i doubt anytime soon he will.

This is great news. I just finished watching the whole series again and while some were pretty bad (Jason goes to Hell) most had enough campy fun to make them rewatchable.
I would kill to have another Nightmare on Elm street film too.

Oh touche. Also Alias, but doing a show isn't as huge an undertaking for him as movies. So i wouldn't put that up to the same league as doing a movie especially something like the Jason franchise. Though i would say he probably could make it work since honestly Jason movies don't exactly seem like they require days of work to film one shot or CGI and other things.

Tool has released 3 DVDs, each one has a few of their videos. On all of them, there are stickers stating that their next album will be released this [b]Spring[/i]. Since they're blatantly advertising it, we'll actually see it this year...and probably well before June.
Even though I'm a fan, Friday the 13th has been pretty played out. Unless a splendiferous director signs on to helm the project, I almost don't care anymore.
