EA and Crytek Announce new game:
Electronic Arts and Crytek today announced they will bring Crysis, a new first person shooter, to gamers worldwide. Developed by Crytek, the makers of the award-winning Far Cry, Crysis will be an original first person shooter game for PC based on new intellectual property.

"Our focus has always been on innovating gameplay and technology, and bringing new experiences to gamers through our original intellectual properties," says Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek. "Crysis will be a showcase for that commitment and will offer gamers from all over the world the next step in FPS gaming."

Shooter fans will face a new kind of gameplay challenge requiring adaptive tactics and customization of weapons and armor in dynamic, hostile environments as mankind struggles to survive in the face of a horrific alien invasion.Source (http://www.syncgaming.com/index.php?page=viewnews&id=3766).

Well, I don't like that idea.

Aliens, dynamic hostile environments, brand new ip; What's not to love? ;)

If Crytek gets to keep the IP and control of their own studios I don't mind them using EA's hype machine.

That said.

Nurturing creative talent and bringing original intellectual property to the world of interactive entertainment is a key focus for EA and EA Partners.

I agree, EA brings massive amounts original intellectual property to the market and they never ever would suck the life out of a talented studio after one release.

I love non-news like this. No offense to the submitter, they got as much news outta this thing as possible. But there was nary a scrap of information in that entire "article."

And I love the orgasmic happiness resident in every PR spokesperson: "We are delighted to reach the next level in our relationship with Crytek," says Tom Frisina, Vice-President and General Manager for EA Partners. I can almost *feel* the shit-eating grin on his face.

Aww! Did they make out in the back of EA's dad's truck after the prom?

Wow an alien invasion! that so original! I hope there is alien human experimentation followed by long boss battles where shoot the big red eye.

Can we please stop all the petty Electronic Arts bashing? You EA-haters seem to forget that if it wasn't for EA you would probably still be playing tiddlywinks with your sister.

Electronic Arts invented videogames - try to remember that the next time you fire up Half-Life 2.

Psst -> Damn, that was harder than I thought!

And that's exactly why you should be thankful for Electronic Arts. I urge you to remember your sister the next time you entertain the notion of EA hate-speech.

They did? When? They were founded in 1982. Atari was around for a decade before they even came on to the scene.

Now, to say they helped create third party software as we know it, yeah, I can buy that. But that doesn't change the sucktitude of their current games, IMO.

So I am not the only one who cannot tell when Fitbabits is being sarcastic. Although, I think the blacked out "I AM BEING SARCASTIC HERE GUYS" sort of gave it away this time.

Even with the "psst," I didn't really sense any sarcasm in his post. Remove the blackened text and that sounds like something a legit EA defender would say.

Believe me when I say that if you research some of my posts, you'll find what I really think about Electronic Arts! :)

Oh, and that's why the blacked-out text was there - to show that I was being sarcastic.

If it is as fun as Far Cry, then sign me up!

As for fitbabits, he tends to lean heavily towards sarcasm, so I just assume every time I read something out of character that he wrote, that it was intended as sarcasm. I think his use of  (which is even labeled as Sarcastic) is the best method of tagging your post as sarcasm. I'll demonstrate:

Most of what fitbabits writes is the god honest truth!

Sheesh, alien invasion... humans fighting to survive... sounds very very familiar. What i can't get my head around is why EA is so incapible of thinking of new ideas for games but instead making movie to game remakes and making the same game over and over again with little or no added substance.

So....nobody's noticed one thing? Namely that Crytek has switched publishers?

Far Cry was an Ubisoft game. It was also Crytek's first game--and now they'll be eaten by the EA Borg.

WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING TO ME?!

FarCry now Crysis, what's next, Crymson Arrow, Cryptic Passage, Cryspy French Fries?

That had happened some time ago (at least 1 year ago?), and was mentioned on the typical news sites.
