A brand new and decidedly awesome trailer has been shown off for iD's new game Rage at QuakeCon.

The game bears a resemblance to Fallout 3 and that's just fine by me!

Yeah it looks kind of like Fallout 3 but with cars (which I wish FO3 had to begin with.)

Oh, and I really hope they figure out how to get it on the 360. They said it will fit on 1 Blu-Ray but they'll have trouble fitting it on 2 discs for the 360 and it really belongs on 4.

OH,HELL YES! If it is any where close to what they just showed, I will be a happy gamer. Fallout 3 with vehicles, bring it on!

Doom 3 with cars in a wasteland setting? Will the enemies be a little smarter at least?

It still looks good, but when you boil it down, it looks just like what I said above.

i wonder what microsofts strategy is now with the ps slim coming, and obviously dropping the ball on including STILL, only dvd media. man if the 360 only had a blu-ray player.

think about it!!!!!

Looks more like Quake 2 with Guns.

Fallout 3 with guns? Quake II? Come on guys!

Just by watching that trailer it looks to be on a whole different level than that Oblivion remake, Fallout 3, or anything else I've seen to include Crysis. Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 was awesome, but the gameplay had been done before. It didn't feel like a new game, just Oblivion with guns. The way this thing seems to blend vehicular combat, RPG-like pacing and flat-out KILLER LOOKING FPS PLAY.... ....well, let's just say my pants are really tight right now. I've never seen a game blend so many types of genres so well. And all of this from a trailer!

Maybe ID Tech5 is shit. It looks like the shit so far.

If you don't get fucking tickled watching that trailer, I'm not sure you have a gaming pulse.

Physics be looking pretty hackneyed... just as it was in Doom 3.

Looks alright, but doesn't make me need to play it.

Damn, this looks absolutely AWESOME!

The locales are nice and colorful, there's a great pacing and the explosions just look great. Anything about an release date perhaps?

I thought it looked amazing! I've not really been a huge id fan (I have found most games to be "just good", except Doom 3 which was a piece of shit) but I've bought -everything- they've done so far, including the old DOS games, and for once I'm actually really excited about one of their games! Could have done without the driving though...

I just watched the trailer a few times and I just don't know what the excitement is all about. Sure the graphics are nice, but the gameplay average at best. From the shooting mindless mutants that run at you from some spawned location to the spider like beings attacking your feet while you blast them away with a pistol. Please.. we've done it all before, a million times. The vehicle combat looks interesting, but the driving looks way too arcady for such as serious theme.

Anyway, disagree all you want, but here we are, 2010 approaching. I can shoot a missile at any wooden house and blow it up? Can I throw a grenade at a wall and make a hole for me to get through? How about being able to climb over obstacles that are only up to my chest?

Maybe I'm just really tired of going through yet another tunnel or a predetermined pathway to kill scripted spawns along the way. It's like that old Haunted House carnival ride you've been on a million times, except they keep putting up new posters and once in a while you see a sleeping janitor inside, hey at least it's somewhat random.

You make a good point. Going from one FPS game to the next you always run into it sticking to one or to cliched FPS conventions, and it gets really old. It would be nice to have some of the flexibility to do what you want like in Red Faction Guerilla, the FPS mobility of your character in F.E.A.R. 2, the enemy AI of Killzone 2, and maybe a few more aspects of what I am missing. I just hate firing up a new game to wait to see what restrictions I am sick of seeing pop up so I know what experience I am getting. I want to be blown away.

I did read that apparently the enemies dont mindlessly spawn at you but instead have their own routines in the areas they inhabit, and that you can stealthily pick them off or try to sneak by. I applaud this since for ID this mind-blowing, but seeing enemies still charge at the character reminds me too much of every other game they have ever made, and those kinds of games should be more of a thing of th epast.

It's an FPS. I'll play it to shoot at things, and it appears as it will deliver. Looking forward to it.

Doom 3 set the bar on graphics for a while.
Then it was Oblivion.
Things were fuzzy for a while, but then Crysis showed up.

This I believe is the next step-up in gaming graphics and gameplay.
It looks to be a great game, but let's be honest here people...
Games that look this great are more-often-than-not used as a playable benchmark.

On the consoles it will be different, but you can bet computer builders will want to show off their newest rig by playing this game.

It looks like they might have learned their lesson in terms of storytelling and mission design, as the game "appears" to be non-linear and actually have characters you interact with. This is nothing new, we've had games like this for years, but nice to see id growing up a little.

Graphics are nice, but this is a given with id titles, so nothing new there.

Gameplay appears to be the same FPS/vehicle formula that has been around for 10 years, so nothing to write home about. They might have pulled it off in a slick and polished way, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Overall I rate my interest in this title as a 7 out of 10.

Some interesting graphical and animation quirks, but the concept and art style look awesome! Hopefully they tighten it up a little before release, I'm really pumped for whatever Carmack comes up with!

So if it's outdoors and with cars, does that mean it will have Monster Garages instead of Monster Closets?

Oh Mr. Green did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

I think I'm going to go play D3 and turn the graphics to max. Probably looks delicious compared to some other games. And still. And at great FPS.
