Fans of the upcoming X360 and PC title, Timeshift, will be happy to read that they can download the PC demo (http://www.gamespot.com/promos/2006/timeshift/index.html?tag=psbox_hp_timeshift) from Gamespot this Monday, Jan. 30th at 11 AM Central.
Full versions of both the X360 and PC versions of the game are scheduled to release on March 21, 2006.
You'll assume the role of renowned test pilot Colonel Michael Swift, who, after briefly traveling back in time, has returned to find the world changed beyond recognition. An evil overlord named Krone has gained total dominion, and it is up to Colonel Swift to defeat the enemy and set time straight once again.
The demo includes one full level of the game, where you must use your timeshifting powers to infiltrate the perimeter of a heavily guarded building to meet an important rebel contact on the top floor.
"An evil overlord named Krone...it is up to Colonel Swift." So... Whose kid got to name these characters? ;) I hope the gameplay is fun!

Didn't I play a demo of this game a while ago or did I go forwards in time to play?

This game looked very generic in the videos.

It looked anything but to me. Lot's of rather snazy time-distortion stuff taken far beyond the Max Payne slow motion mode in FEAR.

They should have named this game Chronix. That would have been even more cheesy.
The name and plot sound stupid, but it might be fun. At least it's got some sort of hook. It doesn't look too pooey, so I'll give the demo a shot. If it doesn't blow, like a $5 hooker, than I'll pick it up, 'cause it's getting pretty crap in FPS-Land.

I just got my March PC Gamer which has a Timeshift Demo, I don't know if it's the same one. I wasn't terribly impressed. First the performance was rather poor. I can run FEAR at very high quality levels, but this was kind of jerky even with stuff turned down. This of course may be optimised further by release.
The main proble was the combat just didn't feel right. I can't quite explain. It just felt very loose and poor. The time poers were sort of interesting, but most of the previews talk about interesting puzzles, but the only real one in the demo was a simple throw a switch then timestop so you can get through the gate before it resets. Also it was described as being one of thirty levels and there was barely 10 minutes of play in it, less if you dash through, so if this is typical it will be a very short game.
I'm sure it's the same demo. Developers rarely ever sit around producing demo-after-demo each month, since it take A LOT to make a demo.
:gasp:
What's that? A demo isn't just someone taking a snapshot of the game as they're developing?!?!
No, not entirely. During development, games are so broken it's unbelievable. To release any sort of public demo, time has to be taken out to stablize the game.
I'm sure the demo on the March PC Gamer is the one being released on Monday.
The upside, is that demos are usually not what the final quality level will be like in the product (usually). It's usually better than the demo...usually...
We'll have to see.

Guys, this is the same company that was behind Will Rock - the Serious Sam rip-off that must be one of the most horrible FPS' released in recent years. I wouldn't trust these guys to build a proper Tetris.
